did pc world have big windows

got my verto Geforce fx 5800 128mb ddr II a couple of months ago now,
and when i go into forums or nvidia related sites its like im the only one with the card, everyone either talks about the 5700 or 5900
was it a waste of 300+ of our english pounds ? and i play aao and i dont get the fps i was expecting.

by the way i have a pentium 4 1.7ghz and 700plus ram
was just wondering what u brainy guys think.

The 5800 is the old FX card that even Nvidia admit was awful. Over 300 quid for that and you have been royally ripped off.

FX5800 was a terrible card, even admitted by the big nV, hell you can download movies off the nv website that take the piss out of it and themselves! :)

it was too noisy because it ran too hot
it was quickly revised
even the 5600 is a bit pants and the 5600 ultra has since been revised to the 5700
the 5900ultra is a beast and also revised to the 5950ultra
all soundly spanked by ATI in hl2 based dx9 tests
it's not been a good year for nvidia
the 5200's are still good value for money though I reckon for a basic user

also a couple of months ago???
i'm sure the later cards were out by then....
the 5800 was new last feb or something surely...
