to rip movies from DVD? (it's legal to make a personal copy isn't it?)

I always thought it was fine to do so as long as you have a bought and paid for orginal copy which you ripped it from and are not distributing it.
That's how it lies with music...

Ah. Crappy then. Me and a few friends sometimes use this place we have access to with a projector for movie nights. However, they don't have a DVD player (and we only have an iPod which won't play them in fullscreen grrrr Apple) so this is like the only way to watch some of those... *sigh*

There's plenty of software around which will rip dvd's just do a google seacrh. I won't link you to any due to warez restrictions on Trickery.

Under UK law its illegal to backup CDs DVD games etc etc without explicit permission from the copyright holder.
So there. Even ripping CD you own to MP3 to lsiten to on your PC or MP3 player is illegal. Crazy but true.

No idea about Swedish law but most western countries are getting tough on this sort of thing thanks to the lobbying power of the film and record companies.
