The Tomlinson report recommends that GCSEs, A-levels and vocational qualifications should evolve over the next decade into a new diploma system.
What are your thoughts?

Don't like the idea of it myself.... change for changes sake or a revolutionary idea? - i doubt it's any of those really. I think they should just fix the system that's in place with GCSE's and A-Levels at the moment, rather than messing around creating new qualifications.

this diploma stuff is a bit of crap really imo.
Work is assessed by teacher......good luck getting them all to meet same standards
Do ONE big project.....
Do things like hairdressing to get points towards your diploma.
A++ TO MEAK PEPUL FEUL SPESHUL
Science is no longer a core subject.
How are unis going to select people now? think they will have to set their own exams. I doubt they are going to let you do a physics degree with your credits in Hairdressing, Plumbing and Automobile Maintenance

25 the other way.
the main thing is that GCSE's and A Levels dont really seem to make much difference in someones standing for a job these days. you either have to have a degree or something of equal standard to make much difference to the kind of job you can do.
A change couldnt really do any harm imo.
