I'll wait for the PC version, can't stand fps games on a joypad...

GTA isnt a fps. I find its generally better played with a joypad especially the PS2 one.
PC version is due next summer.

Don't let's start this argument again.

11th october for PS2, afaik. no definate release date for PC, but it won't be 2004.
and GTA games in general, i've always found much more fun on consoles. but i really liked the idea of being able to play your own music through the radio on GTA on PC. I think i'm gonna hold out for PC version of SA.
Looks like its PS2 fuzzovision then :!:

Need a mouse for the aiming and a joypad for the driving and flying...when will they learn?!
That's exactly what I do Q-Target... and I have an analogue pad (Gravis Digital Extreme or something... despite the name it does have an analogue stick) for my PC whichis miles better than any pad I've used on any console (mainly coz I have fairly large hands) So I lose absolutely no fun in the driving and flying aspects and gain fun in the shooting, graphics and play your own mp3 aspects.
Anyone who thinks it's better to play on the PS2 for any other reason than it's out first is simply a mug.

Try 32" widescreen
Proper surround sound through panasonic technics unless you have the £1000 stuff for your pc.
so you can have a shitty resolution and a shitty framerate on a bigger screen? Wheee! Lets make it look even worse! Think about it, how close are you to your telly? How close are you to your PC monitor? I bet that you don't have your telly filling any more of your field of view than your monitor is.

 NWA thats such a stupid arguement its hardly even worth bothering with. For your benefit lets have the consoles Vs PC debate all over again.
GTA has the same advantages on PS2 as every other game:
For starters in reality very few people have a PC capable of running games like GTA properly if at all.
PS2 to run GTA: £100
PC to run GTA: £700-£1000?
Playing games on a BIG TV is much better if it wasnt why do people buy Big TVs or go to the cinema?
No install, put disc in and play, no worrying about compatible hardware or patches or any of the crap we have to put up with for PC games.
Advantage of PC is singular, graphics. Im sure the game will look better on some peoples PCs mine included, the PS2 does struggle graphically to cope with the new game. I look forward to running it on my PC if I havent lost all interest in it by next summer.
And dont say keyboard and mouse because as anybody who has read the news page on trickery knows you can get them for PS2 but joypad is the best way to play GTA anyway for my money.
PCs are great if you have the time and the cash and the patience. most people dont which is why we have consoles if you cant see the benefits then you must have too much time and too much money. Im not biased to consoles most people here know how much cash and time I put into my PC, its just Im not blind to the great stuff consoles offer.
I have a PC more than capable of running VC and GTA 3, I bought it almost 3 years ago now. I use it for lots of other stuff and would have it even if GTA didn't exist. Therefore the PS2 is the extra expense, not the PC. Certainly in my case, and most of the posters on this forum, I imagine. Especially when to enjoy it at all I would have to invest in a larger telly and better sound system if it could hope to match the enjoyment I get from my PC.
edit - I upgraded my gfx card 1.5 years ago, but GTA 3 ran fine on the old one (never played VC on it).

Sure it's much better than a little T.V. but I'm saying it's all about field of view, and for the cost of his 32" TV I expect he could have easily got a 21" monitor, which would immerse him much more into the game than any Telly, short of the cinema screen (unless he sits a lot further from the pc screen than I do...). You can get Surround sound for your computer if you want it, I'm sure the stuff on his telly would work. I personally use headphones which
a) doesn't annoy my housemates/neighbours when I want to play into the small hours
b) isn't all that worse than surround sound when you have decent pair, in fact the sound quality is quite possibly better even if the volume isn't.
No install, put disc in and play, no worrying about compatible hardware or patches or any of the crap we have to put up with for PC games.
Install takes all of 5 minutes, 10 if you're unlucky. Patches, fair point except that I've not had to patch a GTA game yet.
GTA3 and VC run fine on what most people would call my shittech PC. GTA3 even ran acceptably on a duron 700 with 256meg of ram and a gf2mx at one point - you can put together a PC to that sort of spec (something like duron 1600, 256meg ram, gf4mx) for about 350 now all in. Plus then you get sparkly new computer to do other stuff on :-)
I prefer it on my ps2 even tho i have a nice gaming pc.
graphics?
i couldn't care less, if it was a red square nicking green squares out the giant black square city(:p) as long as the gameplay is there.
I enjoy being able to chill back at some distance and use my ps controller, it feels more comfortabler for some games than others and i dont need to pay for the adapter to hook my controller to my pc since i have a ps and can deal with the lower res.
i've always felt that a-lot of console games ported to pc are easier with the controller cept fps which i dont play much of on my ps2 anyway.
and overall... i dont need to wait upteen months for the pc version why everyone tells me how darn good it is on their ps.

The main reason i'd play GTA on a PC (and i have for the last two) is the satisfaction that i can actually hit things with the guns via mouse/keyboard. Thats it really. The MP3 player is cool, the nicer graphics are cool, i even use my PS2 dualshock on the PC versions.
But, even through the slow-down and inferior graphics, GTA in 32" widescreen with 6.1 surround (on proper speakers) without the whine of 15 different cooling fans is where it's at. Sitting about with my mates on my sofa, necking beers, racing low-riders with the conversation barely audible over NWA's "Express Yourself"... ahhhhh
There's something a bit more... approachable... about console play. They've always felt to me more appropriate for "company" if you catch my drift.
Both have their advantages - i reckon on balence i'd go PS2, but i miss the point-and-shoot my mouse offers me.
Oh, and i rate GTA games as third person shooters...
the shooting in SA is much better...you can lock on now whilst moving and its much easier to switch between targets...none of this horrible aiming whilst using a rifle..they lock on now as well..qucik flick of the top buttons and you swap between whoever is in your field of vision..much nicer to use
i have a ps1 pad hooked up to my pc it's sweet for lots of games like GTA
