View Full Version : Reinforcements AI
Is there any way to decide which army you control when there are multiple ones ?
Its doing my head in as the AI constantly gets my generals killed. I just watch helplessly as they cavalry charge the entire army on their own on a suidice run. They got my best general killed who had won about 15 battles by just randomly charging !?
It got 3 killed in a row on my main front earlier !!
I don't understand why they do it as the enemy never does it to me??

I don't get this stupidity with the total realism mod.
On kinda the same subject, is there any difference between normal battle mode and arcade mode ? Are they more likely to be hopeless in the arcade mode for example, I've never tried it.

arcade mode does the following:
-Disables moral calculations (units wont run away as much)
-Infinite ammo for units with ranged attack and artilery
-unlocks the camera
-disables Fog of war.
Only way to do it is to make sure that when you attack an enemy and you have reinforcements around, you do it with the Army you want to control. ie with a general you dont want to lose.

if an army doesn't have a a family member general it is under your control, i.e. you control the reinforcements
Provided you have free unit cards to do so. Otherwise they wait at the side.

Whats that mean ?
why do they sometimes just wait and sometimes pile in ?
Plus if someone attacks you and you have reinforcements it doesn't always place you in charge of the one with the general - rather just the army they attacked.
An army can only consist of 20 units (20 unit cards in the control panel). So in a battle where you control the army with the General and you have a reinforcement army with no general the reinforcements stay where they are on the battle map until one of the units under your control in the army with the General is completely destroyed or runs and dissappears from the battle map. A unit from the other army will then be under your control.
If the 2 armies consist of 10 units each and one of them has no general then you control both armies at the start of the battle because it doesnt break the 20 unit limit.
When you are attacked by the enemy on the campaign map you always control the army that is attacked, even if the reinforcement army has a General.
oh so they are only AI controlled if they have a general ?
Funny how I have finished the game and still don't know loads of things :)

dumb question o/
I just got the game, played through the prologue and currently spreading my tendrils through northern italy.
How do the reinforcements work? Is it just if you have an army standing nearby or do you have to attack something with 2 avatars?
Ayone tried an online game against another human player?

I thought, when you attack/defend whatever, on the pre-battle screen where you get the option to retreat, decide outcome or battle, you can uncheck the AI box for a second army...?
