Top right = I spose ..

Bottom left = Wouldn't be seen dead in them in a thousand years. It's like grandad slippers mixed with kilt leftovers mixed with shitenes.

Bottom centre = I thought you shopped for labels? Did you honestly goto the circus expecting to find something good? Are you a clown on the weekends?

Bottom right = They're doable but not a first choice.

Actually it's a forum used for discussion of multiple subjects with freedom to make posts related to the subject of the thread said posts have been made in.

I have one pair of trainers. They're grey with hints of red, they have a black oil stain on the front of the right one and by god they the hum somewhat.

Shall post pics when I get home!

They rule !

My Mostros rock me. The soles are quite thin, climbing stylee and I love the way that you can feel a faint shape of whatever you're walking on/over. Mine are grey rather than the colour in that pic.

Jamey
26-Oct-2004, 10:49
Got three pairs of Mostros and I've finally managed to overcome the painful heel rubbing experience by wearing plasters on my heel.

Nersh - grey and what? Are they like my grey ones (http://www.jameyhoward.com/sneaks/viewgallery.php?id=29)?

Inertiaman
26-Oct-2004, 10:53
I've never suffered. Although I have to wear steelies for onsite work sometimes and I've never had a pair of cat boots that didn't chafe on the inside of my left heel. Just the left mind, the right foot sits there smugly mocking the other.

Jamey
26-Oct-2004, 10:56
Yeah it's just me with the mostro/pain thing. Everyone else says they'r fine. I really can't understand it. They're the right size and everything.

Anyway now, thanks to the discovery of sticking plasters, I can wear them for a few hours, as opposed to a few minutes.

meh. got four pairs of shoes/footwear; a smelly old pair of £15 trainers from tesco, beige looking and very comfy, with collapsed heels. a pair of black shoes with a silver buckly thing, which I only wear with a suit, which I only wear twice a year plus for weddings and funerals. a pair of berghaus approach/low level boots, very comfortable and about eight years old. a pair of hi-tec magnum patrol boots, handworked leather exterior, very comfy for field work and bull up nice for parade square too.

hey, I',m no cheapskate, I'll spend money where it's worthwhile (my approach boots were nearly £100 and my patrol boots were £70) but I ain't spending 20 bucks on a pair of sweaty trainers whose sole purpose in life is to get me to work and back in the pissing rain on a pushbike.

Dunno why i got the blue air force 1s (I guess because they were cheap) And i wont be wearing the bruin max to next summer as they are suede.

This is my collection from last time that there was in the last trainer thread.

Jamey

]I have to say the blue ones really float my boat, but i don't have any suitable trousers to go with them.

There's a good article about matching stuff on Crooked Tongues (dot com). Basically it advocates the idea that it doesn't have to be the whole garment that matches. Just do it with accessories or something subtle.

Like, my new trainers I'm wearing today (pic above). I don't have a yellow T-shirt that matches the stripes properly so I plumped for a black shirt with a yellow wristband. But If I'd had a yellow lanyard (or keychain, whatever you call those fabric things) I would've prolly just left that dangling out my pocket or something.

Another good tip is wearing a coloured tee underneath a shirt or underneath another tee to get the colour match without being OTT. Cos even if I did have a yellow tee that matched these kicks it'd still be a yellow tee, which is kinda bright.

As long as you've got a bit of the same colour somewhere on your body, it should look ok (subject to common sense). It's better to have a tee which has a small amount of the same colour that matches almost perfectly than one where the whole thing is a similar colour but not quite right. IMO, anyway.

Another thing which is IMO but other people seem to do as well is to match sneaks with tees, rather than trousers. Cos most ppl wear jeans and denim's regarded as a neutral colour nowadays.

Heh, nice collection fingerz mate. Mine pales in comparison to that. They all look new too, it takes a while for me to save up for a new pair - or at least to think of an excuse to give my mum:P

The BBC pay their staff too much, these days.

Jamey
28-Oct-2004, 15:33
The trick to keeping them looking new is rotation.

Rotation rotation rotation. I might make a TV show about it. Just don't hammer your favourite pair into the ground. Try to wear your best pair as little as poss so they stay looking nice for years rather than months.

And J^mes - I assume you mean the yellow Dunk Hi-tops with the navy swoosh, yeah? The "Michigan Dunks" as they're called. They're widely regarded as one of the best colourways of Dunk to be re-released for years. I know people who don't even like Dunks who went out and bought those.

Kane - It's an ongoing debate among sneaker collectors. There are people who just buy them and keep them in the box, or on display but I detest that. Buy them to wear them. I don't see the point in never wearing them.

Too late :P

They're customs. The tweed stuff is actually proper Nike, unfortunately.

Bah.

I realise now how stupid it was to challenge the kickmaster.

craig when you gonna get your new trainers after you cancelled our date on thursday :P

cuthbert
29-Oct-2004, 22:00
Heck knows.

I'm thinking about just carrying on them ones until the smell becomes totally overwhelming - then of course I'll just wash them and carry on for another 3 months :P

29-Oct-2004, 22:01
FS don't encourage them or they'll start making burberry ones.

With no disrespect meant, I find the whole fad of collecting and near worshipping different brands of trainers rather chavish. What's next? Tracksuits ?

got my g/f this earlier today :D

yes its tweed!

There was a documentary on these about 2 weeks back. Nike got in touch with one of the remaining tweed weavers on one of the islands around Scotland, they had never heard of nike. Got them to make up a sample of 2 meters, then 4 meters then something like 1500 meters which they just could not comprehend and had never had to make anything like this quantity before. Anyway turns out Nike got the order wrong and missed a zero and actually meant 15000 meters, quite a big order for a factory manned by about 4 people. There were talks going on between the weavers and some other brand. The material got shipped off to one of their child labour plants where ever they are located these days.

Quite like them myself and I'm not a fan of Nike

With no disrespect meant..,

You know when people say "I'm not racist, but..." and then go on to say something blatanty racist?

D33
29-Oct-2004, 22:29
You know when oversensative people hear something that's not actually racist but decide to call it that anyway, helping to lead to an over-pc nation ?

Like, "I'm not racist but I can't understand the Indian accents of the agents in the outsourced callcenter you have in Bangalore." ( very racist there )

More to the point though, I just think it's funny how one one hand some of you go "omg, chavs suck!" and on the other hand, admire things like trainer shopping and buying.

It amuses me, that's all.

blurr
29-Oct-2004, 22:31
I think you find chav's hardly know much about nikes or trainers themselves, anyway, chavs wear nike shox and nike sports wear, which can be bought at virtually every sports chav store like sports soccer and jd sports. Of which are very different from nike heritage range which are sold in more expensive clothing stores, like www.hanon-shop.com and like the one I work in (dogfish), the stuff we sell are hardly townie and sit next to Carhartt and 55Dsl which are skating/surfing brands. Even in our girls store (catfish) nike is sold right opposite a vivienne westwood collection.

Just because we have an interest in clothing and fashion in general, doesn't make us chavs. Infact it distance ourselves from them. At least we don't walk around with caps tilted up, tracky bottoms tucked into our socks and walking like monkeys, spitting every few seconds.

And chavs seem to ruin every respectable brand possible... to think burberry use to be worn by someone like Audrey Hepburn and to think Hackett use to make decent suits and even Kappa use to make some quite kitsch tracksuits.

Fair enough comment :)

Cleared it up

Jamey
29-Oct-2004, 22:33
^^ What blurr said.

Both Nike & Adidas have new and retro stuff and it's mostly the retro that interests me.

And chavs do wear Nike shox, the knobs.

blurr
29-Oct-2004, 22:37
but to be fair to chavs

Nike shox do cost quite a bit, £120 for a pair :/

*wonders how many weeks of dole money they saved up to buy a pair*

Don't be stupid, they stick people for 'em.

Dogma
29-Oct-2004, 23:57
Or they just nick them off other people.

I used to like my Burberry hat (this is about 2-3 years ago) when i bought one out of some money i was given.
Now, with the current situation, i havent worn it in about a year :(

Carhartt and 55Dsl which are skating/surfing brands

Didn't think Carhartt had anything to do with skating/surfing brands thought it was, for lack of a better word "workwear".

30-Oct-2004, 10:28
american carhartt yes.

european/german no. its more streetwear :)

Jamey
01-Nov-2004, 21:43
Yeah the US and Euro/German Carhartts couldn't be much more different. They might as well be separate companies. And for all I know, they probably are.

Another example of something that started off as a cheap way of dressing in the hood becoming fashionably expensive.

/me strokes £155 Carhartt jacket and looks up hypocrisy in the dictionary

they're rather exclusive and from what a friend tells me (who works at schuh) they're very footballer like :/ ala von dutch, old glory etc. which is ashame cause I love em

they were £70 from schuh and like I said are exclusive to certain stores (schuh online webby don't even stock it) and the one near me has sold out... but!

I have found it here (http://www.trainerstation.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=224&osCsid=177936bdf3 b7eebd0615e1540e13baf1) £59 inc vat

I had to steady myself then. Shox aint my cuppa tea (my sister brought me a pair i have worn them a few times but cant doit any more even to the gym) but those ones with the shox all underneath are hideous.

On fridays at work its casual dress day and this one geezer wears his shoes to work and when he gets to work he puts on his shox(the same ones in above picture) and then when the days over he puts them back in his bag and puts his shoes on to go home in. Me and my mates find it quite funny.
