Heres a list of some of the best youngsters in it:
Freddy Adu
Freddy Guarin
Lebohang Mokoena
Vincent Kompany
Maciej Korzym
Lasse Staw
Eddie Gaven
Labinot Harbuzi
Daniel Holm
George Junior Weah
Nicola Sorlini
Alberto Sardo
Ederson
Guarin & Kompany are especially good. They will be 2 of the best players in it after 4-5 years. Also keep an eye on George Weah's son at Milan. Scandinavia is a talent hotspot as always so get your scouts on it.

Flamini/Fabregas/Clichy at Arsenal are awesome, Aliadiere isn't bad either.
Javier Mascherano (should get him for about 7.5m at the start of the game, will be the best 7.5m you spend all game.)
Reyes, goes without saying, even if I did flog him (50 million...)
Nigel de Jong is a very good utility defender

Cavenaghi is awesome again and should be able to get him for ~8.5m

Don't cop out and sign him like 99.9% of every other FM players. In my shame I signed him because my mate was moaning about not been able to play him and I signed him to check. Anyway he was really inconsistent and pretty average even at 21 so I sold him to Arsenal for 15m, where his only high point has been scoring 2 goals against me.
Not patched yet no, haven't had many of the problems people bitch about :P
He's not at Milan, I even checked the Milan squad (including transfers out). Quick search doesn't find him either.

You really should patch dude. Injured players moan because they're not playing, and also players played slightly out of position get silly low match ratings (2-4).
Those reasons alone should be enough to apply the patch. You can play your old savegames to.

Anthony Vanden Borren - Anderlecht
cheap 16 year old, costs about 200k if you buy him at the start. good stats and a useful defender/midfielder.

I went to the shame of signing him as well :(.
However in my defence I needed a bit part player to cover for a massive injury crisis of 6 midfielders out and the other 4 getting rather tired. As it was at the end of the winter window, I needed somebody fast and that wouldnt moan soon as I dropped them when players returned and I wasnt willing to splash the cash on a utility player :)
Weah junior is in my game and I only have DB on normal I think.
He looks pretty damn good actually ! Can't say I was aware of him irl either

Does it fix the stupidity of the supporters? i.e. my entire midfield gets either knobbled, suspended for 4 games or bought by bigger clubs... so i bring in a bunch of gerriatric midfield legends on free's. The fans then constantly "Question My Ambition" because their best years are long gone!! (hey, no shit sherlock - a 42 year old holding midfielder???) Can't they see that a conference club with no money and gates in the high hundreds can't attract the next Zidane?
(Incidentally - whacked 'em in the squad, won the games, pulled Exter up from bottom to playoffs, win the playoff final, get promoted, gerriatrics all retire. Jobs a good 'un!)
Also - 15 year olds have always been a fascination of mine (fnarr). I buy truckloads of 'em and train them up over a few years. In FM though, they all want star player status and bags of cash! And starting roles every week.... why isn't there a "cuff kid round back of head and remind him if Cloughy were still aboot he'd be in fer a hidin'" button?
It fixes the first point :P
regens have been tweaked and are supposed to work alot better now.

Aye, I always select the "recommended settings" button when I start a new game, it loads up all the major european countries leagues in some detail.
Only thing the patch hasn't effected is the stupidly good GK's. Ok it's made 1 on 1's a bit easier for the striker but the GK's are still insanely good.
Apart from that I'm well happy!

So you've made almost 15m profit and ur moaning !
Patch is good apart from way too many long shots go in and my players seem to be constantly tired now :(

Pre-season is soo important if you want player fitness.
My defence appears to have gone to shit. I expect it's coincidence but my save game also just corrupted, my nearest backup was 30 games ago :/

That's well harsh, similar thing happened to me when I didn't back up at all .. my computer crashed as the game was saving - you can't get much more unlucky. Had to start all over again. :(
Train on match day - no
Rest players day after match - yes
suspend training between 8th june - 14th july
pre season will occur between 13th july - 9th august
Maybe get 1 player every other season who complains he needs a rest and no abnormal fitness problems. Only older players or ones with poor stamina get tired.
I have noticed im defending too deep i.e having defenders with too defensive a mentality compared to the rest of the team, leaving them exposed with 2 on 2's etc.
I have the same settings as T-Bag, I also edit the standard pre season regime and add in some more running etc :)

for those in the lower leagues, get yerself Andy Monkhouse, cant remember where I got him from but he was released from a club.
Excellent player, AM/RLC I think he is, you can stick him almost anywhere. loads of creativity and scores free-kicks.
I mostly play him either 'in the hole' behind 2 strikers or as the supporting striker in 4-4-1-1 attacking formation.
he carries on performing when hes fatigued as well, so never sub him!
..... unless he gets in a nowty mood, which brings me to his only bad point, sometimes he gets a bit rowdy, usually if you stick him in the centre of Midfield in 442 or 451 hell more often than not get booked. made me lol a bit though..

dunno if hed be upto the task in the higher leagues, Im currently in league 2 with Leigh-RMI. good little dribbler though.
Wayne Maden is my main man for captain, think hes only 22 but he's always reliable and good at winning the ball, D/DMC and he does play both positions very well.
all I did after promotion is scout about for all the reject kids that got released from clubs. My wage bill is a bit high but the board aint arsed because Ive spent nowt! :)

Gianpaolo Pazzini - One of my scouts spotted him in 03/04, bit expensive but pure class and still is in this game. Never seen anyone mention him?

not as good on fm2005 as cm 03/04 pazzini but still worth buying

What do you do in the pre-season to ensure player fitness munk?
That and make a hellishly intensive physical month schedule :)
