Haven't seen anyone else mention this but when you lose it's like 77777776777 and when you win it's like 7777777777877, or is it just me that gets this? Well annoying cos you dont know who's actually playing well.

Don't quite understand what you mean. You mean one player plays badly when you lose, and one plays well when you win? If so, no I don't have that problem, 9 & 10's are afew and far between which is much more realistic if you ask me. I remember in cm03/04, half the team had 9 or 10 ratings every match.

I can't see any major problems with the new patch, other than the GK's are still a bit too good.

What I mean is 9-10 players out of the team get rated 7 whatever. You see your midfielders create 2 goals and still get rated 7 etc ...

Oh i see, I think the game is just being less liberal with its ratings. That's a good thing.

Look at it like this, 6 is quite good, 7 is a good rating, 8 is very good, 9 is excellent and 10 is outstanding. Very few players consistently play with an average of 8 or more which is true to life.

6 is a nondescript performance, 7 is playing alright but without brilliance, 8 is good, 9 outstanding and 10 superb.

5 and below aren't acceptable and are costing your team dearly. I tend to sub anyone who is on a 5 even 30 minutes into the game. I also sub people on 6's at 60 minutes, unless there are more pressing fitness issues.

I know what you mean to some extent Kickarse, though I've not played enough with the patch to directly comment.

Yeah I know what you mean.... Anyone with a 7 is an good performance really and anyone on a 6 I will sub generally.

If your defence is constantly getting 7's that is pretty good, but if your midfield is constantly getting 7's then it could improve a fair bit. I seem to pay more attention to what a player does in game alongside average ratings.

But now I have a player who gets between 8-10 every match even if he gets no assist or goal.

Look at his form there... god knows whats going on.

I agree with NWA's and T-Bags approach.

How many dribbles/runs does mitea do? The game likes people who past other people with the ball at their feet.

I guess he does do quite alot of running.... I just wish his final ball was a bit better :(

Joe Cole is injured, and although he gets a lower average he tends to bang in alot more goals and deliver a better cross.

hmm well it may be realistic but what's not realistic is having a 15m defender being rated consistently the same as a 500k defender from my reserve squad.

I always have one outstanding player per season to, last season gerrard had an average rating of 8+, this season it's kewell with the rest of the squad more or less 7-7.25

There could be inumerable reasons for that dude. Try changing your formation or swapping the said defenders position. Alternatively it's possible he is just a bad 15m player (Veron anyone?), so cash in on him.

nah haven't had a problem success wise, just saying any given key player will 'rate' as highly as any reserve/U18 player (just about) even though of course performance of the team is affected.

It's a bit crap when Luis Garcia comes off the bench for me in the 70th min, scores two goals and gets rated 7 !

Hmmmm... Agreed, can't say I've seen an example of it that extreme but that would be a bit silly.

Goals help with match ratings, but don't mean the player has played particurly well of course.

Ive got about 6 wingers in my team this season with 8+ ratings. Runs past people unbalances the ratings unfortunately

Adriano and Robben are running riot in my team, probably Ronaldinho and Ballack too.

Yes definetly. My wingers seem to always do well in match ratings :)
Mind you, they get a hell of alot of assists.

Robben always gets a lot of assists. Duff, too, before I sold him. Joaquin and de Mul never seem to do as well as them though.

Yeah my wingers tend to be my best players too, even if they don't actually do anything in game. I look at their assists more so than their average rating and how good their crossing is.

I do agree that average ratings are alot less useful than they used to be too.
