Anything working particularly well?

My flat 4 4 2 has been pretty inconsistent despite some serious tweaking!

Pre patch my 4-4-2 (http://www.soton.ac.uk/~dh402/442 (Arsenal, Mar 2006).tac)) was fine, post patch I've had some trouble with conceding silly goals.

Pre patch my 4-5-1 (http://www.soton.ac.uk/~dh402/451 (Arsenal, Nov 2005).tac) rocked, didn't lose a single game playing this formation, not played much post patch so don't know how it's going to work. Needs a strong attacker with good jumping heading and workrates, preferably 2 as he gets a bit knackered. Ditto (apart for the knackered bit) for the guy going back from attack in my 442, either that or a creative flair player in the Bergkamp/Kaka/Ronldinho/van Persie etc mould.

Default 4-4-2 with some passing tweaks is all I use + a few team instruction changes.

I find a front rank of pikemen, backed up by a few regiments of archers, with the occasional shock assault unit mixed in works well, as long as you have chariots or cavalry on the flanks.

You should back up the pikemen with some mobile infantry, hold the archers back and use their distance.

Some air support wouldn't hurt either.

The very basic 4-5-1 works a treat for me.

The four attacking midfielders are very necessary for this formation though, otherwise the striker is buggered. Also, you'd do good to have a strong, fast(ish) guy up front.

I play as Man City, and i use 3 DC's (With arrows running backwars) a DMC (very very important, cannot stress this) 4 Midfielders and 2 Strikers.

I went through a real bad patch at the start of my 2nd season, i tried about 20 tweaked formations and nothing would work, then all of a sudden, i made this one, and i started getting results.
Players are put into the based config (ie- Attacking Midfielder) with a few tweaks, ie- Veron- Always Long Shot but thats about it.
Oh, and i play slightly defensive and on the counter attack.

I really cant emphesis how important a DMC is, whether he's sat infront of the defence or whether he comes back from midfield.

Main emphesis is on the DMC mate.
I did alot of research on The Dugout for formations, and nearly everyone says they feel the need for a DMC to give the extra man when defending.
I've never been a keep lover of the DMC, but it certainly works, especially if you have a good one.

For the first time in ages switched from 3-5-2 because i couldnt get it too work , 4-4-2 seems to do ok

Only ever used 2 DMCs in a 451 or a MC running back, don't find the need for them as I find it's almost the same effect defensively to just stop them doing forward runs and set their mentality to halfway between the most defensive and middle.

btw the underlined 4-4-2 and 4-5-1's are links to my .tac files, to use them put em in My Docs\Sports Interactive\FM\tactics and then import them in game from the same folder.

These have been very effective for my Wrexham side. Looks like it will suffer defensively but it doesn't. It's based on someones LFC tactic posted on www.thedugout.net. Might be more effective for LLM's.

[edit] For you T-Bag.... anything. ;-)

I used print screen then paste! Is there a way to take a screenshot in the game?

;-p

[edit] Oh yeah the Print Screen option which couldn't really be more blatantly obvious if it tried. DOH.
