Today i had the delight of my wireless router dieing. It was a fairly nice Belkin 54G router. After much hassle of not having the receipt (d'oh) i got my money back but alas they were out of belkin 54g routers, so i settled for a Netgear 54g router. Which I was more happy with as it is far nicer lookin. Anyway i updated my pci cards and firmware to be 802.11g compliant but to my horror the router claims tht the belkin 54g cards are only 11b!! It works like a dream but i cant get above 11mbps. Anyone know wtf is goin on? As i was under the impression tht the 11g standard had been finalised and both my cards are wifi certified and both claim interoperability with other brand 54g cards.
Woe is me,
looks like ill be makin another trip to get a belkin router if it ever ge4ts in stock :(

Anyway if u can help i will love u always

Many Thnx C0NTi

p.s. Hello everyone! :)

Did the cards work at 802.11g speeds with the Belkin WAP?

I know this is of no help to you but I have a WG602 Netgear 54G WAP and my laptop has a Broadcom based Mini-PCI 54G wireless card and everything operates at 54mbps quite happily.

Have you tried updating the WAP's firmware as well?

/edit I've just noticed with the new firmware that there is an option to force it to 11mbps and 54mbps. Have you tried that?

yes latest firmware latest drivers, when the belkin 54g router did work it ran at 54mbps. Wen g mode is forced i cant connect to the router. It is adamant my 54g cards are infact 11b.
I emailed belkin and netgear and as no surprise i can expect an answer any day now (read: nvr and if i do it will not be of anyuse)
