View Full Version : Another shoe question
Pop quiz... You've got size 12 feet, there's a pair of shoes you want, you can only get them in the UK in size 11 but the US has size 12... In the UK they're £36, getting them from US would be about £63... You get the size 11s to try for size and they pinch after an hour's wear. You could wear them all day (just about) but not in 100% comfort... do you take them back and spend the extra to get the size 12s from the US?

You could always carve some extra foot space with a knife or something?

I assume they aren't US 12's, but US 13's? Unless they were the best shoes evar i'd get my money back and buy another pair that fitted properly.

If they're only just pinching you, stuff some potato peel (about two large tatties worth per shoe) in them the night before you intend to wear them, leave in there overnight, by morning they should fit you better.
But because its christmas time, use satsuma peel instead :)
BTW, this does work (tattie peel)and not some random bullshit, an old and wisened shoemaker told me many moons ago.
But they'd stink of raw potato, surely?

Nothing a 8 hour working day won't remove.:p
I can't quite remember to what degree of potato odour they smell, I did it several years ago with a pair of classic brogues that were one size too small for me, after about 6-8 hours with the peel trick, they fitted like a glove tbh.
Surely that's to do with moisture? I'd imagine that putting them on, standing in a bath (or enough water to submerge them) and then walking around in them for an hour before leaving them to dry would have a similar effect.
Plus they wouldn't smell so bad afterwards.

Yeah but the potato peel trick is only going to work on Proper leather shoes, not the stuff Fingerz buys....
p.s. a US size 12 is a UK size 11 anyway, so the original question may be academic...

I already mentioned that, and i'm fairly sure Fingerz is well used to importing US shoes in the correct size.

I'd import your sized shoes, nothing worse than wearing uncomfortable shoes.

Wow... Someone gave me some credit for something. Cheers Lungers. Have some rep.
Yeah, the ones in the states are their size 13, our size 12.
Been wearing the shoes at work today (just indoors on carpet so i could take them back if need be) and they're improving quite a bit so i reckon i'll hang onto them. They'll never be quite as comfy as size UK12s but I've got some 12s that are actually tighter so I'm sure I'll cope. And at the price I can't complain.

i thought the whole idea of this thread was to complain about them ;), if you got the money why not, but i still dont understand how one guy can spend so much on frickin shoes
