Its on tonight (wednesday) at 10:40 on channel 4. Its about the defence put forward by the legal team of a boy who murdered his parents because he believed he was in The Matrix or something.

Might be interesting.

If you missed this.... do not worry it was terrible. It was something out of nothing. The main thrust of the documentary was about a boy who shot his parents and claimed he was infuenced by the matrix.

Except he never ever talked about the matrix and even his friends never knew he was into it. He never mentioned it in his police interview, never mentioned the matrix at all. It was only after speaking to his defence laywer that the plea of insanity and the matrix defence surfaced. She proclaimed that he was obsessed by the matrix and put forward his bedroom as proof. He had a poster of the matrix, the video of the matrix and his in wardrobe a long coat, she said it was like the one Neo wore in the matrix. Except nobody had ever seen him wearing it.

It was obvious to me anyway that she had just went for an angle to try and get her client off or get a lighter sentence. There was just no substance to it at all. He was an adopted boy who was not very academic and had very successful parents who were constantly nagging him about not being successful. He worked at a garage doing oil changes and apparantly that wasn't good enough for the parents. Seems pretty obvious motove to me considering all the testimony that his parents were always on his case about not being successful.

Don't forget the shotgun he used that was exactly like the one the main character in the film uses (!)

To the best of my memory, Neo never uses a shotgun...

Edit : Trinity does, but if he was pretending to be Trinity I think he's got some entirely different issues...
