Hi,
I was wondering what headphones you guys use and/or recommend. Ever since my two boys came along, my speakers have been gathering dust :( and I've been using some "clip on each ear" personal-stereo style headphones. The bass isn't too hot!
I'd rather not use that style of headphone which covers the whole ear because it's handy to be able to hear kids crying out before they wake up the missus on those late-night sessions. That said I'd still be interested in hearing your opinions about whatever you use, how much they cost, VFM ,etc.

(This question is repeated in the hardware forum.)
Phillips HS510 - cheap stuff from the Argos catalogue. Not too bad - hasn't broken yet despite repeatedly tripping over the wire and ripping it out of the computer (at least 20 times so far :o)
-Sparky
i would agree with sparky, i use the same ones and have done for 6months. tripping over them is'nt realy an issue tho cos i have to walk accross the room to pick them up, after i've just fooked them at the wall :)

Thanks for your thoughts. Although I'm not sure if I'm going to require headphones which can stand being thrown at the wall.
The guys over at the hardware forum suggest Sennheisers (mainly)

and I've heard good things about them from other sources, so I think that's the way I'll go. After Crimble.

I know the last post was a month ago, but I thought I'd add my thoughts quickly (same as hardware forum in case you miss it):
I have to agree about Sennheiser. I'm a big fan of them. They do well for lots of different uses. I have HD25s and I use them for a variety of setups, so they tend to get thrown around a lot, even stamped on occasionally. Without a doubt they are hard wearing, and the sound quality is superb. Recommended by a lot of people in the music industry.
You should also shop around as mine cost between 130-150 in most shops, yet some music stores on-line (DJ shops, hi-fi) sell them for 100 quid (inc. vat + delivery), so it's worth looking around a bit first.
My tuppence worth,
Yao

I know it's been a long time, but hey. I finally purchased a new set of headphones. (Oh the apathy!)

I got me a set of Sennheiser PCX250. Lightweight, with active noise compensation (it really does help to let you hear those little in-game background noises which I never even knew existed before). RRP £99, most shops sell them for £89, I got them for £68 from Richer Sounds.
Nice bass, so I can really appreciate the rocket that blows me to bits.
sennheiser you can't go wrong.
i have 2 pairs, px200 for my md player and a pair of 590s worth £150 for my pc/hi fi
www.proaudiosystems.co.uk best place to get em from.

Sennheiser are damned good, but in pure HiFi terms, I respectfully point you all in the direction of Grado Cans;
