Just like to say a quick thanks to all involved in the Trickery Rats server, Diz and Alipuk, stars as Ali has spent ages setting up the server!
Next month im increasing it to a bygames style 18man 16players 2 admong reserve slots.
No silly buggering about this is a proper rats server for all u people out there!

i do have to say one thing about the server .....

if i remember correctly theres no de_rats_2001, no de_rats_theatre_v2 and no de_mice2 (fair enough with that last 1 alot of ppl dont like it)

And included in the rotaion are possibly the 2 worst maps in the history ....... de_dustbunnies and as_train_rats :(

de_mice2 was one of the most popular maps on my server and i used it to get people in.

i used xl as opposed to rats2 as it eliminated the bath spawn while keeping the same general enviroment, also removed the easy to reach awp in the door. was a generally more fun and popular map anyway

turn ur gamma up, it helped me and now i can see every nook n cranny without having to get night vission wich doesnt help that much any way :) infrared vision would rock on tbh.. n e ways mice2 and ratsxl are my fav maps :( theyve been made with alot of thort and not just thrown together imo tactics were put into these maps

does anyone know a solution to lag : on joining a server i lag for a few mins then it goes away after a while. It's a lag spike that haoens every 2 seconds.

If you had only heard of 4 of the nicks on that list then you must not have been involved in the community at bygames.com where most were regular posters. The selection for admins is not decided by diz to pick a kewl krew, but is decided upon the maturity and suibtability for being an admin by the current admin team.
Not all admins play as their admin name for obvious reasons.

Complaining about Alipuk/MadBob? who setup the server and has considerable admin experience on a few active servers and at at least the last few multiplay i-events which take considerable experience and expertise...Or SteveO, whose server is it...

some specifics would be nice.

the list of admins on there aren't limited nor closed. I'll include anyone I think are fully appropriate, and if SteveO wants specific people added, I'll do that too, unless he suggests someone completely daft at which point I wouldn't be able to vouch for the adminning on the server and would walk away from it and just game, leaving the adminning to someone else.

additionally the full admin list (so far of those wanting to continue on trickery) is

The admin list is a list of admins with rcon on all trickery servers (more to come hopefully), which does include the rats server if an admin is needed - just like on BY. They may not choose to play there, but will come along if an admin is needed. The additional admins are there for only the rats server.

The "concept" behind the server was to emulate the bygames one (cos it rocked!)

Don't know if it helps Deckchair but I can vouch for GreyArea, M-UK and Sysagent. Known them for quite a while (they play/pld for TWA at one point or another) and were old school BY admins.

I think what went on on f00 rats server needs to be forgotten. A lot of power abuse and stupidity from what I saw when there with one of my leek aliases ;) It was a pretty much unregulated server, but under the trickery wing, im sure the new admins will mature into someone half as good as me :p

I hired, configured ( inc. admin mod, SSH, FTP the lot ) and head adm0nged the CZR server for 4 years and helped run several 10-16 player LANs ( mostly setting up the servers, I had monkeys to do cable runs :) ). I still do, although there's precious little activity these past few months, most of CZR are waiting for HL2 etc.

So anyway, don't try to patronise me about the onerous duties of adm0ngs tbh :p

clan servers and public servers are completly different. If you had any idea as to what extent the BY admins worked to keep the servers in check with cheats/tkers etc then you would know. No patronising here, just fact. Patronising would imply that you knew how to admin properly - using csay and kick on a clan server isnt admining.
