This could well be an open question about Regens..
err what are they exactly ? I mean that ( as i see it ) when a player retires, one with the same stats ( ? ) is created, but younger, and presumably cheaper ?

is that essentially it ? Also, they seem a good thing , so is there a way to find them, or is it exhaustive search time ?

Thats what they used to be, but they are now freshly generated youth players. They will be different in everyones games as its all random.

Yeah in old versions like CM2/3 when a player retired a new player was created with a random name but retained the stats of the retired player. I'm not sure if they were exactly the same, but obviously the altered with age/potential etc.

This doesn't happen anymore, (and didn't even happen in CM4 for that fact) and totally new players are generated. They are still refered to as regens by everyone else although technically they should be newgens or something now :)

I believe there used to be a program which could identify who the regen used to be too.

This is party why lots of people have been moaning about "regens" because the process of generating a totally new player with balanced, appropriate stats hasn't been perfect in previous releases. It seems pretty good now though.

Are you using the latest patch? - 5.0.3. ?

The other patches had problems with "newgens" / "regens" :)

If so, it can happen anytime, if they are brought from your academy you will get a message. they could be "given" to other teams at any time.

Make sure you release (or promote to reserves) anyone in your u18 team that you don't want to free up any space for new ones.

useful tip #2

Look at their profile, if it says "promising" there is a high liklehood they will become good.

As with all youth policys there is a lot of chaff and little wheat!

Have you ever seen the pictures of the regens in the graphics file, its funny cause its just pictures of random guys.

Heh I offered a guy mutual termination and he rejected it and said that despite what I think of his ability he's gonna be a success at my club :) I listed him for £0 and sold him within the week to a non league team :D
