Vice City problem (PC)

Just done a clean install since getting this new rig, tried to update it to the 1.1 patch as I was getting some graphical corruptio nwhich this claims to fix, yet the patch says that it doesn't recognise the current game version. Any ideas why it would do that on a completely clean install? (No no-cd cracks etc)

Don't know about how to get the patch to work, but try some different drivers, got rid of the corruption for me.

In the display menu, make sure that the Frame Limiter option is set to on.

frame limiter fixed the problem but now the game's refresh rate is poor which is why I didn't turn it off in the first place
