Shameless C&P from http://csnation.counter-strike.net/articles.php/article_170/

After receiving Ritual Entertainment's Condition Zero content earlier this year, VALVe decided to re-do significant parts of the project. Community feedback wasn't too positive about Ritual's work. In my opinion, Ritual's quality of work for Condition Zero wasn't what the community expected from a title with VALVe's name on it.

Although you will still find some of the Ritual missions in the game, the meat of CS: Condition Zero is a new mode programmed by Turtle Rock Studios. Twelve Ritual missions will be in a section of the game called "Deleted Scenes." These missions were the best of the 20 or so that Ritual developed. But the new game mode that will comprise most of Condition Zero is a Tony Hawk Pro Skater-like challenge mode. Everyone besides you will be computer-controlled, so let's introduce the bots first.

Is this actually going to be worth £20? Don't care that its HL1 engine and the gfx look dated, but this tony hawk like challenge mode makes me think .. no ty

Its CS 1.6 with bots.

Do you really want to pay 20 quid for bots?

I'll wait and see. If someone I know tells me it's "the business" then I might have a look.

Otherwise it's a non-starter, there are too many better things to be getting along with :)

The SP stuff looked like it had potential, but its not looking like it now for some crappy challenge mode

The SP really isn't that great. I'd rather play online, against real people. It smacks of trying to make CS something it isn't.

The only way they can make it worthwhile is if the SP maps were playable on Normal MP CS 1.6, as it stands its just not worth 20 quid.

One for the completists amongst you only!

If i have the dosh at the time i will buy it :) least i know for certain the bots have all got wallhacks and aimbots instead of only half the opposition :P

Someone showed this to me last night. Only played the first couple of levels on 'Medium'. Think i should have played it on 'Hard' setting as it was relatively easy, only died a couple of times. But the T's sometimes come outa nowhere and the first you know of it is the sound of a knife hacking at your ribs (a bit like Wooly).

Its worth £20, but not much more.

:)

Luckily it only costs £16.99 from play.com or amazon.co.uk :)

It looks OK, I'll wait and see what reviews are like before I get it. They're trying to recreate the CS experience as a single-player game, and it may be a nice change from regular CS.

The bots are supposedly very clever, so you might actually get some teamplay! And there's new maps and stuff, but unfortunately no new weapons. It's spent so long in development in the hands of 4 developers, I would be pleasantly surprised if it's any good.

Any good?

'sok. Its fun for those times when you want some CS and don't want any cheats or can't find a decent game. The "THPS" style objectives and the way you assemble your team (you spend points on your team members, so the more you complete the 1player game the better bots you get on your side) are quite neat in a way. Plus you can spoof the game so you can play multiple humans in co-op style. Still no terrorist play afaik, but its perfect for introducing non-cs players into cs, or for practicing maps etc etc without making yourself look like a dick on a server.

But in essence it is just CS with bots.

But it only cost me £15 odd quid.

And its worth that just to watch bots "cope" with the tactical shield :E

I have it - find it good practice tbh

plus like they said no lag, hax or lamers on it to ruin your game.

Perfect way to get those aiming skills up. The sub-missions (kill a flashbanged enemy, kill 3 people with an AUG without dying etc) can be really frustrating though. I was stuck on one where u have to knife a bot, eventually managed with the riot shield.

Also all the maps have been revamped, plus there are a few new ones.

Worth £20? Dunno, bots are much better than Podbot was, it DOES get you to practice instead of just settling into your main map-specific routine, and is cheat free so ...

lo aye - best way to do it - two guys with riot shields, box a T in and one of you knife him. Only way to knife a bot tbh - how are you meant to suprise them?

I like it, although I still shout at the bots for cheating, bastards...

It's a really nice challenge on Expert, I don't think any self-respecting online player should go to any lower level!

how do you knife a bot? i used fbs..bit lucky mind :) he was in the hossie room on chateau flashed it, ran in, knifeage. Best bit for me so far was on piranesi where i needed 2 deagle shots, and was 4-1 up on rounds and had all the other stuff, the 15 kills and 5 aug kills or something silly isnt it? so all i needed was 2 deagle kills to win, 2 bots running at me, i've got 1 deagle kill, need 1 more without dying, my teams dead, and 2 bots are chasing me round the corner. once i've got it i can die, jump into the middle of the bots, fire 2 shots, one of the bots dies just as i get hs. was a really memorable cs moment :D its a fun game, played some of the deleted scenes the other night, not really THAT bad. Good way of getting you back in HL mode really, got stuck on the VIP mission tho, i can be really cheeky and shoot him thru the wall, but he keeps talking even when hes died and it just got on my tits, where am i meant to throw the fluffing nades?

I always thought you would be able to play either CT's or T's in mind :/ thats ashame they've taken that out.

So is there a Multiplayer CO-OP mode? where you can tackle the SP missions with a mate...?
