For the last 18 months I have been an equipment maintenance technician, before that a test technician, and process technician before that!

Now I settled into my new job quite easily, but by the middle of last year we all realised the company was going a) tits-up, or b) relocating (due to the fact they had an empty factory in China). The relocation started, and the factory where I work is going to reduce from 1100 to 360 people, and a couple of months ago I had a letter stating my job was at risk, with my leaving date (redundancy) of November 30th!

By admittance, I did say that I wanted to be made redundant, but would have prefered to leave earlier, or next year after I have finished my current OU course, and this now leaves me with a huge case of "cant be arsed itis"!
Cause of the nature of my job, I am building, wiring, and calibrating the equipment to go to china, but am a bit pissed that I have the "keen" engineers (who are keeping their jobs) on my back to get the work completed..... >:(

All I want to do is leave and find another job :(

Now, as I say, I quite like what I do at the moment (and am qualified / experienced to do it), but I do like computers networking etc, and would like the possibility to move into this field, and in preperation for this, I have been doing a BTEC IT: System support course finishing end of May, and an OU Diploma in IT, 2 years, but only started in January.

Anyways, I live in Devon, and any jobs earning similar, or better money as I am on tend to be at least 30 miles away, or at the other end of the country, and my misses doesn't want to move away, and I don't want to work away cause of being away from the kids......

[/end of "get it off my chest" tbh]

I can sympathise with how your feeling Jimbo as I got made redundant from my last job. They gave us notice that they were out sourcing the helpdesk to India and then expected people to volunteer to go out there for 3 months to train up the new helpdesk!! :!:

Wow! Sounds cool. I'd love to get paid to travel to India.
