£1000 fine and community service. Thing is, he threatened to have people killed. I'm sure I've seen folk get jailed for shouting at a stewardess. Not that I agree with such harsh measures, but he threated to have passengers and crew murdered.

Did he get off lightly when you consider others have gone to jail ?

I can think of any examples - but I'm sure it's swung the other way before... he's famous and he *shouted*?!?! Quick - prison for life - let's make an example of him! :o)

Just read some more on it and it seems he was a little bit naughtier than making silly threats.

Commercial airlines suck anyway, no smoking and loadsa drink an all that and they wonder why ppl go potty on flights.

Oh - and if you've ever seen that Airport program.... patronising little teenage twats at the help desk.

tbh this sounds like standard punishment for 'air rage', considering the report stressed it was an open handed slap it was probably just pushing someone around rather than punching them out. A lot of people that get roudy on flights tend to just spend the night in cells if they haven't assaulted anyway (as in fight, not just pushed).

seems a stupid idea to serve alcohol on flights anyway.

Yeah - I'd have to agree with that. Getting that drunk that you have absolutely no control over your actions seems a stupid idea to me full stop. Even if you're trying to get a bit of dutch courage I'm sure having a fight, sleeping under a table and not being able to walk wasn't your objective anyway - if you do this you've had too much (or you might be an idiot :o)

I want to expand on my previous post a bit.... you can see why some people might want to punch others.... basically I think the program I mentioned is about the Easyjet help desk at some airport in the UK. There's this kid who works behind the desk - and when customers come to him with a complaint (customers are allowed to complain, yes?) he responds to everything in a patronising "Calm down sir. I'm not going to help you if you talk to me like that." tone. He also holds the award for holding the most gormless face while talking to a customer. I'm not particularly violent, and I don't drink either, but if I flew on that airline, I'd feel like punching him! Surely someone knows the program/person I'm talking about?? :o)

Alcohol makes deep-vein thrombosis/economy seat syndrome worse as well doesnt it?

I've also heard that smoking actually made the air better in planes. When people could smoke the airlines had to refresh the air by bringing in outside air. Now with smoking banned they can just recycle the air for the whole journey (and save on air heating bills). Recycled air has loads more CO2 and has all your coughed out bacteria and viruses, etc.

They could reduce heating costs by serving beans for dinner.
