View Full Version : PC racing game demos
I'm downloading the dirt demo and I've been thinking how I haven't played a racing game I've liked for a long time. Can anyone link any PC racing game demos I might like. In the past I've enjoyed Gran Tourismo (only played the first one), TOCA, Wipeout and some other long forgotten PC racing games. Gran turismo I've probably liked most tho, so whats like that for PC and recent, if anything?

Blackhole motorsports (http://www.bhmotorsports.com/downloads)
This site is full of racing games on the pc, new and old, and links to demos. Should keep you busy for a while
Race07 (http://www.race-game.org/race07bz/race07front.htm) looks good, no demo at the moment though
Well I really liked the dirt demo, gonna have to get that I think. That race07 does look good from the video, have to wait for a demo of that.

Strictly not true ;) http://www.clanptg.com/downloads/VGPDemoInstaller.exe
Grab that 5mb file to launch steam which will then start the 400mb download.

hmm, no one else is reporting any problems with it :/
Tried again, working now I think. It's not race07 tho is it? Says it's called virtual grand prix.

its a 95% version of what the race 07 demo is so yes it is race07
It's not bad from what I've seen, doesn't feel as realistic as DiRT tho. Looks alot like gran turismo on the PS1 and thats with all the eyecandy at max. I really think I need a wheel now tho, might be alot more enjoyable with one.

Looking at the website, it sounds really good and the screenshots look good too. Live for speed sounds familiar, it's been around a while?

A good few years, still not finished but enormous fun. Not for the feint hearted though, it can be hard work.
The standard car setups are pap as well which doesn't help.

yea LFS is still in Alpha, not even beta yet lol. But it is good. My only problem with it is fake tracks and no actual race series. Obviously rights need to be brought for a dev team to make those games but because of this i will always play the other racing games.
My G25 came with a demo disk of rFactor. I played it for an hour or so last night (was up til 2am playing with my new wheel, oops!). Really good. I loved the difference between the normal looking car you start with, I started with a logitech car, maybe cos it came with the G25 and later tried a F1 type car. Wow, it was quite immersive and felt like I was actually in an F1 car, quite an experience! :o
As I wrote this, the postie has delivered my copy of DiRT! Yay! :E

I play lfs as well. Excellent game but agree with chef about the fake tracks. Would be nice to have some real ones.
Keep meaning to check out rfactor, any good?
I'd say the rfactor demo is well work a look.

Been playing rfactor for about 6 months mate, easily the best and most realistic racing game i've played. Its the only game i've enjoyed since the BYGPL days!!

Race 07 demo now available on steam
Or fileplanet etc. Been downloading it today. :) Not expecting too much tbh, that other race07 demo wouldnt work properly with my G25 wheel, when most stuff just works with it straight away.
