Apparently based on the design of the ex-Russian Admiral Gorshkov. They've built three new covered Carrier-size graving docks in Shanghai, so could well be after fast production...

I was reading an article that I've lost at present, I'll try and find it again, but it proposed the idea that China is running out of time to "deal with" Taiwan, say 10 years before Taiwan's military is so advanced, and the expeditionary capability of Western nations, especially us and the Yanks is so powerful that an assault would be too costly.
Worried? hell yes more males then females...most of those soliders know they can't get wifes....if they ideas above there station we culd be in trouble:)

That's the thing, if you read the article from my first post, it doesn't look like the PLA want to use them for force projection, they'll be more for air cover for other surface assets, mostly Subs, SSGNs likely.
