Right, I've got the Radeon 8500 64MB card already and I want a new one. Which is the best Radeon to get at the mo!!!

Answers on a postcard.

Well, the best is obviously the new Radeon 9800XT 256meg, but the best bang for buck is the 9800NonPro 128meg. Budget wise? the 9600XT is a good safe bet.

All will be faster than your 8500 and they support DX9 of course :)

If you cant afford the top line moidems go for mid range such as 9600, its still directx9 support i believe.

see if you can find a 9500 pro in the uk rarther than a 9600 as they are sightly faster cards :)

Thanks for the advice. However....

My bloody 19" CRT blew up yesterday, so I went out and bought a 17" TFT.

Think the card will have to wait a while. :(

look on ebay for a 9500non pro, can be had for about £80, can be softmodded very easy in most cases, and will perform very good.

of course not in the XT's way but you get what ya pay for and the 9500 at 9700 speeds is a safe bet

its worth noting that the 9600xt comes in very close to a 9700pro in most benchmarks i've seen.

personaly i'm waiting on an email from ATI so that i can get their cards at 40% off :E
