Hi all,
Just been given this forum to look after, so I thought I'd say hello.
Do you think we need to make it more of an 'interactive' forum rather than just talking about our favourite authors/books? It might die, once ppl get bored of talking about things like that.
I was going to suggest maybe posting short stories up etc, but then I noticed that there's already a forum for doing that, so we can't do that.
How about posting reviews? If you start a thread title with 'Review:', then I will sticky it. Should we have a template for the reviews?
How about reviewing ppl's short stories from the creative writing forum? Obviously, constructive criticism only for this type please.
Any other ideas?

The creative writing forum here isn't quite as 'busy' as it was at BY (I accept I have contributed to this decline by NOT contributing, if you see what I mean). Also, I think we do have a reasonable amount of constructive critism over there anyway.
As for reviews of books we're reading, yep - it sounds like a good idea. not sure they need to be stickies though - surely there'll be a lot of them (optimism) and there's nothing worse than a huge group of stickied threads in a small forum. A template would be a good idea.
Finally, another plug for the Creative Writing forum - go check it out if you haven't - Synbios and SCM do a good job there, and there's some good pieces from your fellow forumites :)
Now I've been shamed, I'd better go write something for them....

I used to be good at this sort of stuff, but I'm crap now I'm afraid :(
We could also post essays, that would be a good idea. As long as they're interesting and not too long and boring like Fulmineus' evil classics essays.

This would be quite good...maybe you could tell us in advance which book you were going to review, tehn someone else could read it at the same time, and then we'd get two reviews of the same book. Then we could argue about it. lol.
