could we have a list of all the emoticons beside the quike reply box similar to what we get on post new topic?

no, we have something else lined up for that area.

and the point of the quick reply is that its just a quick reply, not the post reply page squeezed into a little box.

if you choose "preview" from quick reply - behold you get the standard reply options...if you really must shove a smiley in....<me clicks preview>... :geek:

smiley emotions are retarded, and only used by 11 year old bloggers, people that can only communicate though MSN and people that use faceparty.

I'd say the use of the word 'retard' (and it's off-shoots) is only used by 11 year olds (and Americans) ....... ;)

Smilies are a 'sometimes' essential medium for inferring a certain meaning to a post.

Like if I wrote

"Noodles you a a retard >:( "

You would infer that I meant it, however if I wrote

"Noodles you are a retard ;) "

You would infer I was joking around. That is the point of smilies and they are very good at what they do.

haha :dead:

Just like LordDefenda's post here, it is a perfect example, he finds my attempts at humour quite unfunny. If he had just written 'haha' on its own then it wouldn't have conveyed anywhere near as much meaning.

I know how I like to come across :naughty: and I don't generally bother with smilies cos I like to rely on the mind of the reader to determine whether my remarks are snidey or sarcastic...in most cases they are both.

I dont see how saying "haha" can be construed as being unfunny.....I was wryly laughing at your comment.

This is a case as to why the current smilies need changing. They show the wrong face for the intended attitude.

You've offended him now. (I think it might be a troll smily?)

And yes, LD, a perfect example of smilies not living up to your expectations, resulting in totally conveying the wrong meaning on that post.

I'd say it's a case of poor smiley selection myself.

You poor smiley selector!
