Disappearing Downloads.

Got a problem, that i hope one of you lot can sort ;)

Anyway, when i'm downloading a file in FF it goes to a folder called Firefox Downloads in my documents. So when i start the download i can see it downloading fine but when it's done it's not in the folder or anywhere on my PC.

I changed the download directory to my desktop aswell to test and it's the same, but you can see the file on the desktop/folder as it's downloading but it then disappears as its finishes.

Tested in in IE as well and it does the same thing :(

So has anyone get any ideas?

*insert open it in notepad/format C: replies here* :P

You could grab something like SysInternals FileMon to see whats deleting it

Is it something daft, like being saved to the wrong users desktop?

At a command prompt in the root of C: do:

Code:

C:\>dir /s mypronfile.avi

Are you using XP or Vista ?

Have a read of this... (assuming you're on Vista)

It may shed some light on things?

I can't get that as when i download it and i choose save it disappears from the save location, or if i choose open i get a pop up saying it can't find the file.

Tried it and it says the file cant be found :(

I created a new user account to see if it was just my login and it doesn't work on there either :(

Can't say why it's happening but I'd suggest a system restore point to when everything was working fine. If that doesn't work, nuke it from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

Hhm, IE decided that it would start working again. So i uninstalled FF and reinstalled and it's all working fine.

Well for now anyway.
