Valve ditch Steam Greenlight
Valve have announced that they are to scrap their controversial program for allowing indie games on Steam, in favour of a more direct approach, appropriately named Steam Direct. In the new system, developers will pay a fee per game game submitted and they will then be added straight onto the Steam Store.
Currently, under Greenlight, developers pay a one-time fee of $100 and can then submit as many titles for user review as they please. Under the new system, the fee will be applied per game submitted and will be substantially higher. The actual figure has not yet been announced, but is rumoured to be between $200 and $5000.
Steam Direct launches in the Spring.
