Went to town today and Fareham GAME lives, but the place is always heaving, so can quite understand that one staying open.

I cant help feeling they would be better off indulging in some mild (extensive bring the van type) theft.

"Administrators at PwC have blamed GAME Group's collapse on its "ambitious" overseas expansion and the "unfortunate" close proximity of its stores." , unfortunate...

That pretty much goes for all of central Fareham.

Full page tescos ad in the papers this morning - TESCO: HOME OF GAMING etc.

They're doing a second hand setup as well. Should work a bit more favorably if they keep their original retail prices as keen.

Writing was on the wall for some time, wonder who's next. There's a lot of stores who're only maintaining any form of profits due to cost cutting and have been for some years. Without any growth in sales there'll come a point where the business model needs rethinking entirely. I see a lot of chains going and smaller independents rising in their places, people able to adapt and simplify their businesses.

Game's business was and is about as simple as it comes. Simplicity isn't the issue, over-levered capital structures, high street rental rates and over-sized footprints are.

True, I'm just thinking from the perspective of where I work. Furious activity in place of understanding. Problem was game were never going to compete selling as high priced as they did with so much competition, and so many places will follow suit.
