from my experience, under contract, expected to do x hours a week and receive y. they've just said don't be on site. you still get paid, in effect you're being told to be available but not to work and to not be on site, it's not like you have decided not to be available so you still get paid unless your contract specifies something for those circumstances

My father has given me a 500 gig usb hard drive to fill with films for him. When I plug it into my pc it says its attached but doesn't appear in my computer? I'm guessing he formatted it on a mac. I can see it in computer management on my pc...

If I delete the volume or make into a dynamic drive will this be viewable on a mac?

PS: fucking apple!

Check what drive letter is assigned to it. Sometimes, for example, if you you have a bunch of drives on a PC and you plug a USB device in, the o/s tries to assign a drive letter that's already assigned. Just change it's drive letter to Z or something in drive manager.

Yeah - looks like it's not NTFS/FAT so Windows is giving it the heave ho. Shame that Microsoft don't seem to like supporting anything other than their own file systems, but there might be a third party driver somewhere (I know there is for some of the Linux ones).

Delete all the partitions on it then format it as ExFAT. Macs can read and write to this and it doesn't have the 4GB file size limit. Assuming there's nothing on it he wants to keep.

I deleted the 465gig primary partition, then the only option was dynamic disc. so i did that, then it let me format as nfts, then it let me format as ex-fat \o/

I notice that the 200meg efi bit is still there though... will this matter?

Once the news breaks on twitter - the news agencies are all over it within a couple of minutes and tweeting links to the story. From there it goes all over the shop VERY quickly. I saw Jimmy's tweet within 6 minutes so probably knew about it before it appeared on the BBC site.
