Are there any opticians on 'ere? I'm buying some glasses online, I have the SPH of my eyes but this website is asking for the "CYL" and "AXIS".. but I don't have either on my prescription, wat do?

If you had your eyes tested within the last 12 months and have a valid prescription, then get back to the place where you had them tested and ask for a copy of your prescription. They are legally obliged to provide a copy of it for free.

I'm trying to connect to a mate's ftp, but the client is unable to resolve the address. The address is fine, and i can ping it with no problem, but both FileZilla and FTP surfer refuse to connect to it. I've turned off my firewall so it's not that. I can connect to other FTPs fine. Other people can connect to the one that i'm unable to connect to. Any ideas?

Yeah, he probably hasn't either forwarded port 21 to his internal IP or he has his firewall blocking access in some other way.

Depending on his router, he may need to specifically grant access to your IP as well.

If he's got a Thompson router FTP is a bugger to sort out, I vaguely recall having to disable something on mine using telnet before I could get FTp working, usina non-standard FTP port may be easier for him. He'd still have to allow it through his firewall but it may actually work.

I use a Thompson Speedtouch ST585 v6 (best router in the world for ultra long lines) and I've had no problems, although creating rules is a bit weird. The v7 ST585 is a cunt, however.

I think mine's a V7 585, as supplied by BE, when it's working it's fine I have no complaints, but when it needs something tinkering with on it it's the slowest most unintuitive web interface ever. Quite user unfriendly.

Other than the fact that they do two-page ads and are therefore probably not working out of someone's bedroom, I know NATHEENG.

Never even seen a review in a mag, but then I haven't been looking. I'd probably go to Scan, Cyberpower, or check out wired2fire, who I've read good things about.

Thanks to all. I havent looked at hardware for years either , the last pc magazine i bought (read in whsmiths) was a pile of adverts and toss. Looks like a big chug around the net with all your recommendations and see whats what.

Quickest way to convert mov to avi on a mac? Free solution preferable. Need to do it fast and quick. Video has been taken on the iPhone and is only less than two minutes long.
