When asked what bike he had purchased, Xerox was heard to say "The blue one".

You've got to admit, even though it's better spec'd, it doesn't look as good as the others...

I actually think that Pinnacle is quite tasty, nice, clean and subtle white on bronze.
Some of the bikes just got OTT on the livery

Bike recommendation. Any bike just not from halfords. Coming home from work tonight and the pedal fell off and I am now in pain. Haven't done that may miles. Perhaps I should phone accident direct

Picked my bike up from halfords earlier and on the way home the pedal nearly fell off again. Took it back and told them either a refund or new bike. They chose to give me a new bike. Should have it by Monday hopefully.

My Ford Focus is better spec'd than a BMW M3...

It's a nice bike buddy, but you asked for advice and completely ignored it which makes me smile, I'm not having a go. ;p

Slightly tangential and an odd request but is there such a thing as a short-range comms headset system for use between cyclists? I have some hearing loss and find it difficult to understand people if I am not directly facing them, which obviously can't be done while cycling.

As Mrs Z and I have just bought bikes and the whole "what?, what?, what?" thing (justifiably) irritates her no end it would be nice to be able to communicate whilst riding. Stuff on Amazon seems a tad cheap, which presumably means crap.

Two walkie talkies with headsets? They'd activate on voice though, so when you're panting your arse off whilst up a hill, all she'd hear is your groaning!

Don't have any recommendations but experience seems to demonstrate that more gear = more accidents. I can see pushing PTT buttons on a headset shoved under your helmet causing as many problem as just turning to face the missus.

Can any of you chaps recommend a bike similar to those in this thread for the £150-£200 mark? I want to do a bit off off road biking, nothing too taxing or dangerous!

One thing I would recommend is avoidance of Wheelies Online fantastic pre-sales support and god awful post sales support...

Bit like taking something back to a market stall really.

speaking of bike recommendations though I am looking at a road bike currently looking at a Focus Cayo 3.0 (about £1200) that is the extent of my budget too. help gents?

If it's nothing too taxing or dangerous, then this is primarily a road bike, with some capability to do a few muddy tracks. Not proper downhill.

Think of it more like the "soft-roader" vs an "Offroader".

That said ... I have a Giant Coldrock from circa 1990. It doesn't have suspension, nor disk brakes, nor aluminium frame. It's nothing like the latest spec. However I still gave it a good beasting around Llandegla at the weekend.

Got myself a bike last night. It's a GT Aggressor XC3, second hand. It's in good knick but obviously been in a garage for a couple of months as there's some light rust round the front shocks (removed with some gun lubricant) but the front shocks are still a bit stiff. Chain seems a bit loose aswell. canny bit of grime around the gears and chain - can this be cleaned off with a brush and water? Do I need to lube it after again? do i need to tighten the chain?

thanks in advance!

Soapy water and a brush will be fine, then just lubricate it after. The chain may have stretched and need replacing. A chain checking tool is about £4-5 at crc, think they are about £7 in halfords.

Where you planning on riding it? It's a rigid frame. Some cracking discounted bikes on ChainReactionCycles at the moment.
