Thinking of getting SKY TV?

If so....

I just switched my internet and phone to them (for £3 a month - result!) - and they've given me some deal where you get a £75 voucher for either M&S,Tesco,Boots or John Lewis if you recommend them to someone and they then sign up to the TV service.

Anyone interested? - give us yell

Can't be much worse than I already get - I live near the coast (the wrong side of a railway line) so max speed I can get now is 6mb anyway. Until Virgin get their finger out their arse and put some services in my area (like thats gonna happen), i'm stuck with it.

Sky Connect (BT exchange equipment) or Sky Unlimited (SKy exchange equipment)...? Big difference in available bandwidth.

Yup... Mind you they have recently (last few months) increased the bt-sky interconnect bandwidth and doubled the uplinks from the terminating routers to the core so it should be better...

That's good news. My Sky Unlimited connects at 20Mb/s ... but month on month my measured average bandwidth keeps dropping. I'm a SamKnows tester, so get a nice report each month.

That was for SKy Connect Bilb, average bandwidth on Sky Unlimited isn't affected. However I understand they're changing all their peering at the moment so you should see some improvement over the year on average internet bandwidth. They're also upgrading core links AFAIK..

Excellent, so might see some improvement. Although BT have got their act into gear at the local exchange now, and users are getting upto20Mb/s. At least there is some choice again now.

Fingers crossed that infinity goes in soon though!
