they switched the dated ppk for pig ugly p99 for the last couple of movies. The ppk model in the trailer doesn't exist.

Look at it man. It's a prop with barely more than the outline in common. They just want to make all the bond nerds happy. Mission successful. Or perhaps times are hard at MI6 and they really have given him a 12 year old replica of a 40 year old target pistol. It's quite clearly ABS resin!

"take the same magazine and parts" lol. Amazing ability to measure internal and entirely fictional components down to the millimeter from just a movie trailer you have there.

hey lets get tedious though - look at the whacking great slide switch at the back of the reciever, is it the mag release moved from the thumb to a slide leaving the original port capped off? Whatever it is - that small change would completely alter the right side of the receiver forging. It'd need all sorts of mech under the grip which would then necessitate moving the right mag catch attached to the original thumb release. Note also the entire lower reciever is ergonomically moulded rather than drilled from single sheet steel. You'll note the licenced 2000 ppk s has flat sides reflecting the old manner of single piece "screw-through" reciever rather than the modern trend of clamshelling nice tough resin/graphite bits together.

It's a prop man. A pretty prop though and one I look forward to seeing shooting people to dramatic music and pithy one liners.

Remember, he won the old DB off Alex Dimitrios in the Bahamas, used it to help him score with the luuuuurvrrely Solange (Caterina Murino), and later plunged him in the guts at that exhibition in Miami.

As you do

Um the mag release is the big round thing behind the trigger you muppet. You can see it quite clearly in BOTH pictures I posted.

That switch is for the bullshit finger print grip.

Anyway this is totally circular and the whole point has been missed - for the last few movies they've stuck to real actual models in keeping with the gritty modern style. The creation of a totally bespoke and utterly impractical piece, as with the return of the classic aston marks a return to a more stylised and old fashioned tone. This was my only point. That being said - if you know anyone making a modern moulded plastic walther in any variant I'd love to be corrected. I think the 60's were just fab.

Well they couldn't use the PPS because....well it's fugly

The ppk was actually regarded being a bit shit as a sidearm, fiddly mag release, low capacity, and a fairly under powered round. As a concealed backup, yes fine, as a primary not really that good. A Ruger .22 has higher capacity and is quieter when suppressed.

Actually, didn't Bond switch to the Asp 9mm in the books?

Hmm, Black one with black grips would look quite nice actually.
