Saw this in action last night. Jaw-droppingly crisp footage. Massive wide-angled shots of the opening ceremony that took in everything making you feel like you were there (as opposed to the narrow-angle from the broadcast signal)
Swimming footage also made you believe you were right there in the seats. I actually thought people around me were clapping.

Phelps is amazing, no doubt about that. Not sure I'd call him the greatest Olympian though. Most decorated of course. Unlike other disciplines it's reasonable for someone at the top of swimming to get multiple medals from multiple events in one games. Not so easy in other disciplines though.

Personally I think Carl Lewis record is more impressive, gold medals in 3 disciplines over a long period of time in track and field eventsis arguably a harder thing to do Then there's Redgrave. Rowing, probably the most physically demanding sport (aerobically at least) at the absolute top of the field for 16 years is incredible.

Phelps is the greatest swimmer of all time though, and 19 medals is incredible!

Saw some of this on the highlights last night... crowd booing at the badminton players for the players deliberately hitting the shuttle into the net to get a more favourable draw in the following round. They should all be disqualified, made an example of, as it's far from the sporting attitude that the olympics is supposed to be about.

On another note... GB Women's football... thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm no big soccer fan, but
it was great to watch due to the fact no prima-donna players diving, rolling over at every slight touch and generally flowing play (as opposed to ref whistle-blowing every few minutes for a free kick, etc) like usually happens in any men's game.

Not sure where you work, but if there's the temptation for lots of people to stream something. Why not just suggest that the event is streamed in a conference room to one of the projector screens?

People can down tools, pop in to see that race/event and then back to it!

We've got some TVs around the floor already... so there's only so much they're able to do (especially with the range of sport on). What'd be more sensible is internally streaming everything over multicast so it doesn't impact the external bandwidth (which is what they're concerned about)
