I think he is the ideal fit for Allardice's style of football tbh. The tonk up the pitch style.

btw - Is Kevin Davies still playing?

Carroll can make a very effective target man in the same vein that Davies did for many years for Big Sam.

£2m is a snip for a season.

Even if they don't pick him up afterwards - which I'd be surprised if they do.

We've got Lucas, Henderson, Allen, Shelvey, Gerrard as our main CMs with Gerrard and Shelvey able to play more attacking if need be. Cole and Adam are fairly usless and I can't see them playing much.

Henderson is shit, Adam is shit, Shelvey is average, Spearing is average. Lucas was looking good (never thought I'd say that) before his injury which leaves Allen and Gerrard.

Allen is a decent player, but it almost smacks me as a panic buy because they didn't get Sigurdsson.

Rodgers was almost certainly intent on bringing Allen with him when he left Swansea. He hasn't got Allen in place of Sigurdsson as they're pretty different players.

Henderson is good and will get a lot better, Adam is a bit shit, Shelvey is a brilliant prospect and I'm struggling to think of many 20 year olds in the prem better than him. Spearing is average but will be good backup.

can I just add that it seems Liverpool may be playing 3 CM's. Rumours of 4-3-3. If not 4-3-2-1.

Lucas was not looking good, but fucking fantastic. Absolutely cracking player. Id like to see Allen, Gerrard and Lucas being our first team CM's.

He is not a cracking player. He is a good player who had failed to show any semblance of form for 2-3 years until the back end of the 2010-2011 season.

He has been distinctly average since joining Liverpool to be quite honest.

Did he not basically have a couple of months of good form just before his injury? With a lot more months of not being one of the best midfielders in the premiership? I cant really remember tbh but sometimes if someone has decent form just before a long term injury theres a definite tendency to overstate how much hes missed

Lampard Gerrard Ramires Carrick Scholes Arteta Tiote Parker Yaya Toure are just a few names off the top of my head who are better..

You said midfielders, I named a bunch of better midfielders. If you're going to go into holding midfielders I'd much rather have Carrick, Parker or Tiote than Lucas.

Looks like Jack Rodwell is going to Man City. I think it's a silly (Adam Jonhson style) move that will see him play less football and could affect his England career. He isn't going to get in the first 11 ahead of Barry, Toure, De Jong etc.
