they did donate £2.5m though to the armed forces, nice chaps. ok only a percent of their contracted £248m to provide security that they failed to meet but still...

at least they have some new police business to keep them going.... good to know the UK is in good hands

Ditto. Why will it take 2 years? Yes there was an extremely large number of troops deployed. They were deployed for what , 3 or 4 weeks. Now they aren't surely they go back into the normal rotation / whatever the proper term for the armed forces are and any TA's go back to normal?

2 years just sounds totally bizarre.

guess they used the regular army and not the fast reaction force. like you say though, 3-4 weeks set-up and 2yrs to recover, smacks of exaggeration. thank fuck the argies didn't invade, military geniuses they be not!

They won't get paid for what they didn't deliver. They will only get paid for the personnel they supplied. Common sense surely?

I think I remember reading that they had been paid the full amount and refused to reimburse the government for the shortfall in service. I may have just made that up though.

They don't get paid per person as such, they got paid a management fee which they claimed very early on to have earned despite the shortage.

Ok, perhaps my comment was a little tongue in cheek. I agree that there are certain commercials for setting up the service etc. But of £248m for a service that wasn't delivered, and only a token gesture of £2.5m to the armed forces is taking the mickey a little!
