Quite surprised by the move, although probably a decent bit of business for Everton. Great prospect, but has just been so injury prone for the last couple of seasons. Plus we have Fellaini and Barkley looking to break through.

Good luck to him though. If he can avoid injury, he could be great.

Looks like Manchester United are edging closer to signing RVP. Two things please me about the whole thing; 1. Man Utd are reluctant to shell out £20m on a player who is 29, more clubs need to take this on board. Everyone has done it in the past but common sense needs to take over. 2. Man City can't sign him because they have Santa Cruz, Dzeko, Adebayor, Tevez, Aguerro & Balloteli on huuuge contracts. Apparently Santa Cruz and Adebayor need to be sold before he can spend on a forward.

Arsenal don't need to take anything on board from their main rival, RVP was worth £25 million to them last season alone (arguably no champions league without him)...

24 mill does seem alot considering his age and the fact he's got a year left on his contract.
However he was by far the best striker in the league last year and i think Arsenal will miss him badly.

People said that about, Vieira, Henry, Fabregas, Nasri, etc etc and we have still finished where we would have done had they of stayed.

He's not had a long summer off and with his track record of injuries, he's unlikely to reach anywhere near what he did for us last season. Whether he stayed or not, its our rear that is going to hurt us this season. With an extra £24m now in, i really hope we get another CB in.

Meh Arsenal have done good business this season, for 12~ mil net spend theyve changed one great but injury prone striker for two good younger strikers and what is in cazorla an immense midfielder.

That was his first full season with Arsenal.. prior to that he spent up to 10 weeks a season on average injured.

One of those wierd transfers where its good business for both clubs imo. Providing Arsenal reinvest the 24m on their shocking defence.
United have potentially the best striking partnership now and as long as RVP keeps fit and plays in the position arsenal had him in, he'll bring the best out of Rooney as well.
Lots of ifs and buts, although that's what football is about sometimes

Matter of opinion, that's why I said potentially.
Tevez's temperament will always have some sort of affect on the team he plays for.
Also Aguero and Tevez have not scored bucket loads as a combination for Argentina.
We'll see come the end of the season I guess

Problem with youtube clips is you can make pretty much any player look like a world beater in them. Not saying this guy aint good (as I know nothing about him) but youtube is never a good source for checking out players

Anyway Van Persie is now a done deal and Newcastle have signed Vuron Anita from Ajax, reports say hes a defensive midfielder with a good eye for a pass, could mean Newcastle playing a 3 man midfield allowing Cabaye to get further forward then he did last season. Still think our defence is a little weak and we only have 3 first team strikers. Well have to see if Ashley puts his hand in his pocket for anyone else.

Fair comment. I've heard they've been prolific in pre-season and the chemistry is developing quickly.
