The PS3 Wipeout games were great !
They made some quality Amiga games back in the day, I think this was my favourite. Don't get quality intros like this anymore |

Aye, Sony are cunts. Shadow Of The Beast is one of my favourite gaming memories from childhood.
Check that for a game intro from 22 years ago. Sound quality is garbage on that video though, but its the best I could do.

I do really hate Sony. I can't think of anything actually good about them anymore. The PS3 isn't a patch on the Xbox in every single area except as a DVD/Bluray player. It's one of those brands that I would love to see disappear, although that's obviously never going to happen.

Shadow of the Beast evokes great memories, but try playing it on Mame or something, it's SHIT. Killing Game Show was one of my faves from back then, but is similarly dated now.

Apparently they were working on next gen before they shut em down too, Wipeout was the reason I bought a PS1 after playing it in a nightclub.Sad times

Better's the wrong word, because both systems have great games, but I think Uncharted, Heavy Rain (which I loved), Wipeout, Metal Gear, Gran Turismo, Journey, Papa y Yo, LittleBigPlanet, Yakuza and the Last of Us (hopefully!) are all ace.
And SingStar, which is about the only reason I'm allowed a PS3 in the house. |

Walker, video above, is still great! Games like Sensible World of Soccer still piss all over modern day alternatives like FIFA. There's loads of old games which I still play quite regular which are just as much fun as anything which is out now. |

Ah, I remember playing Psygnosis' F1 95 on my PC with a newly fitted Voodoo card - which opened up the 'Ninja' graphics mode for supreme quality.

I loved doing the 'wiggle' in walker to make the guys on the ropes go flying off you. Always brought a smile to my face watching the little bastards bounce over the top of the walker then right in front of my guns

Didn't these guys just release wipeout for the vita? Way to go to reward everyone! Knowing that lot though, they will just re-start it all on their own again. They've done buyouts and restarts a few times I think.

Bummer.
Went for an interview there to be a games tester many years ago - when it was still Psygnosis. Brother of my mate at college was one of their lead programmers in the late 80's to 90's (worked on many titles you will all of heard of - he moved to the US years ago, still there I think). Shame. Still holds the title of being the weirdest interview I've ever had for a job (had to sit and play a game )

Yeah but there are plenty of games that were once great that no longer are. I'd be pretty stupid to suggest that ALL old games have dated badly as I still play games such as Theme Hospital (Thanks gog.com!) and XCOM: Enemy Unknown (Thanks Steam!) and I love them just as much now as I did when they were first released, but there are many old games that just dont play as well now as they used to. Try playing Road Rash or Street Fighter 2 for example.
