I understand it's better to be played in the open air, but anyone that's been in London this weekend knows it's just fking rained consistently throughout - surely it's better to just have an unbroken match by keeping the bloody roof closed. Idiots.

I think as it's an outdoor tournament they like to get as much outdoors as they can. They got in trouble on the first Friday I think for keeping it closed because they thought it was going to rain but it didn't.

it's rained all weekend here. It's rained earlier today; the forecast is more rain until late evening. Close the roof.

Been sunny all day down here on the English Riviera... had a lush bbq early, and will sit down this evening with a nice bottle of red wine, possibly on the decking if it stays nice

As much as I would love to see Murray win, Fed's style of play is simply impossible to resist being in awe of - if this was wanting the best tennis player to win it would have to be Federer. The guy is just sublime - and he's been less than his best at times today. Murray played brilliantly throughout against him today.

The problem for Murray is that Fed has started to read, and react to, Murray's serve. Since that time Murray's service games have been much tougher - with a knock-on effect of a smaller percentage of first serves falling in. It's very similar to how Federer used to be against Roddick in the latter's prime.

Murray was the better player for all but the last game of the first two sets, but Federer was absolutely superb in the last two.

Great game from both, massive effort from Murray.
He'll get a grand slam no doubt, can see it coming against someone outside the current top 3 though.

I greatly enjoyed Frankie Boyle's commentating during the match.

e.g.

Quote:
Frankie Boyle ‏@frankieboyle
Murray's like a superpowered Gregory from Gregory's Girl ‪#Wimbledon‬

Frankie Boyle ‏@frankieboyle
With every point Murray gets, Tim Henman fades from reality like Marty McFly in Back to The Future ‪#Wimbledon‬

Frankie Boyle ‏@frankieboyle
To come inside Sue Barker, you'd have to look at an old photo of her. A black & white one, where she was doing the jitterbug in a speakeasy.

Frankie Boyle ‏@frankieboyle
Be good if the umpire's chair had telescopic legs of living metal & during the breaks, he scuttled around like a spider chasing the ballboys
Sadly, Murray will now be relegated back to being Scottish after his annual fortnight of being British. (My fellow Scots will know what I mean )

Once Federer retires Murray will be able to snatch Wimbledon.

Well here I am like a bad smell to say I told you so.

This time though I take no pleasure in it - something different about Murray this time. Federer needed all his magic powers to sneak that 2nd set and had he not I suspect the result would have been different. Murray genuinely attacked, tried to win instead of not lose and gave it everything he had. More emotion and aggression than I've seen before. I think Lendl is having a marked influence on him in big matches now.

Credit where it's due. One of the best losing performances I've seen (Federer losing to Nadal and Roddick losing to Federer spring to mind).

Impressed with oor Andy's efforts, but playing Federer is like fighting the Borg alone.

There is, sadly, only one solution for Scottish, and indeed British Tennis;

LET'S INVADE SWITZERLAND!!!!!

Pretty scrappy, error-strewn win today, but sod it, you're allowed to be a bit ropey in the first couple of rounds

Laura Robson just knocked out Kim Clijsters. Fucking great shot to set up the match point too.

'kinell! I'd planned on watching it but got sidetracked. That's phenomenal. Part of me's a little sad that Clijster's last slam ended like that though.

Double break from Laura Robson against Li Na in the final set. Fantastic stuff. One game to see off another GS champion!
