Going to Bridgewater hospital in Manchester on Fri 14th to have a consultation to have lens implants (Intra Ocular Lenses), I'm not suitable for Laser surgery due to a high prescription and thin cornea, by the end of September I will hopefully have gotten rid of glasses for good, I've worn them since I was 7.

Often wondered if it would make any difference to me. Been short sighted since about age 10, wear contacts most of the time now (I find the quality of vision preferable to glasses). Haven't looked into it at all, maybe in the future....

It's different to cataract surgery as they don't replace the internal lens just add a new lens over the pupil, not as invasive and allows for better focussing and natural eye deterioration. It's also reversible, cataract surgery permanently replaces a part of the eye with a man made lens.
