Anyone going to get the alpha squad pack offer thing?

Whilst looking at the details for the offer it said that store credits would be converted to proseibensat 1 credits on launch. A little Googling found

1) ProSiebenThingie is just marketing and distribution partner for SOE to handle these things in EU for them.
2) You need to create an account on ProSiebenSat. 1 to play (and presumably download) PS2, they now list PS2 on their official site http://www.prosiebensat1games.com/en/index.13.html
3) no idea, my guess is the beta will not be affected for now

Following a strong vocal opposition from the community, SOE worked out a new deal with ProSiebenSat.1 to help accommodate players. A new updated FAQ has been posted with details about the deal, the most notable change being that players in both EU and the US will be able to play on each other’s servers. Part of the deal will still require EU players to make a ProSiebenSat.1 to play, but they'll have the benefit of having their Station Cash converted to a new currency and the option to keep playing on your chosen server.

What happens to our running subscriptions?
Players who have pre-paid, non-recurring SOE subscriptions will automatically have their subscriptions transferred over to ProSiebenSat.1 Games so they can continue enjoying any remaining play time left on the account. For players who have a pre-paid, recurring SOE subscription, their remaining subscription time will also be transferred over to ProSiebenSat.1 Games; however, the subscription will not renew at the end of the current cycle. Once the subscription expires, players will be required to re-subscribe through the ProSiebenSat.1 Games system in order to continue enjoying the benefits of a similar membership.
I'm a European player; after I create my ProSieben account, will my SOE account be shut down?
No, your SOE account will not be shut down. You will be able to access the above mentioned SOE games through your ProSieben account, and you'll be able to access other SOE games (like the original EverQuest) through your existing SOE account.
Will my ProSieben account be automatically deleted if I don't play for 90 days?
No, ProSiebenSat.1 Games does not use automatic procedures to identify or delete "inactive" accounts.
Will European players still have access to games that are not included in the deal (i.e., the original EverQuest)?
Yes, European players will still have access and can continue to play these games through their SOE account.
Will new accounts be given the option to sign up with either SOE or ProSiebenSat.1 Games?

European players will need a ProSieben account to play the above mentioned games. European players can access other SOE games through an SOE account.

I had an hour or so on it last night but didn't have nearly as much fun as my first try. Every squad I joined seemed to be scattered about the map miles away from each other and nobody was using voice comms Buggers!

I've had this issue. The game is superb when with a group of talkative troops - not so fun with a group of lone-wolfers.

Guess it just promotes getting an outfit together and being on with a regular bunch!

How does one get a spawn beacon then? I assumed it was under universal certs at first but couldn't find it there or under any of the class certs

The cert systems needs alot of work and needs to be made much clearer.

Leadership -> Squad Leader

Rank 1. Gets you a becon, Another 25 points lets you carry 2 beacons. Beacons cost resources much like the grenades do.
Rank 2 gives you Squad waypoints (+1 waypoint per tier within the rank).
Rank 3 gets you Priority Waypoints, Command Chat access, and the ability to draw crude penises on the map.
Rank 4 just reduces the spawn timer on the beacons progressively.
Rank 5 Orbital Strike... woo!

As I've said before, I have no idea what the Battle Rank restrictions are on these.

Costs a lot though, to the point where you'd have to gimp your char for the sole purpose of orbital striking things. The cooldown and resource cost is probably silly too.

The game will be free to play. All your alpha squad money is basically turned into station cash which you can use ingame to buy guns and unlock upgrades. You can earn these via ingame resources too, it'll just take a while.

I was playing last night on EURO 1 as NC.

By the time I finished playing -

TR were pushed almost all the way back to their spawn.

VS were hovering about on their side of the map and the NC had taken 70%.

I haven't found the same organisation on TR as I have on NC today.

I'm wondering if the TR guns aren't a bit too lightweight now. Lots of bullets doesn't mean much if they are made of potato peelings..

So far, across every night and every server I've played on I have not seen TR have the territory advantage.

My question is shit workmen? or shit tools?

Shit workmen, I play as TR on EU1 and we regularly push all the way up to the NW side. We tend to get bogged down coming down the mountain on the plains leading to the NC warpgate though and eventually overstretch ourselves and get flanked and encircled from the east along the mountain ridge line. I am unsure if this is just to changing server population ratios due to the time of night or if it's simply a quirk of the Indar map due to its geography.

On the West against the VS, we don't do nearly as much fighting, the border there is fairly static. VS don't put up as good a fight as NC so we tend not to push hard.

Points mean prizes after all, so we tend to go for the action and the long drawn out meat grinder fighting.

Ah but have they actually said the game will be free as in you dont need to actually buy the boxed copy? I know they don't do that usually on f2p but this is sony.....
