I don't think anyone's stopping new film specific threads.

Tim that's not very helpful and a little obtuse really :-)

Of course that's not the case, nor did I in any way imply it was, but that's not the point.

The point is that if someone watches a film, has an opinion on it then posts it in here, they are then not likely to create its own thread about it.

What im suggesting is not revolutionary and worked perfectly well until this thread came along and broke the dynamic. It is easier to browse through the forum, find the title of a film in which you are interested which has its own thread and then immediately read / post and discuss within that thread than it is to trawl through a generalised thread like this where the discussion might jump all over the place from one film / topic to another.

It's not really a big deal but I do think that if the one film per thread idea was adhered to it would still leave room for people to post ratings and short one-liner reviews, whilst encouraging and enabling more meaningful discussion for those who want to.

How about just using this the way I tend to, to share a quick view of an older film I've seen for the first time? IE, something that I missed on cinema release, but have just borrowed the DVD of; (Tinker Tailor..^^^^, being an example), and giving the forthcoming releases, and just-in-at-the-pictures stuff their own threads, where there's likely to be any interest in the title?

The Devils' Double. Meant to watch this ages ago. Quite good although drifts away from the truth as it goes which is a shame as the real story itself is fascinating. 7/10 for strong characters and pace regardless.

I always thought this thread was more about films that didnt necessarily need a a full thread of their own. Or as Eja says for older films.

Plenty of threads in the past that only garnered one or two posts.

I normally look at reviews by reading the first line then reading the skinny at the end then the rating, this thread delivers that for me. I don't really need to see a thread about every film everyone's seen, there are plenty of sites that do that perfectly well tbh.

Finally got round to finishing watching Hanna, 5/10. It's alright, nothing in particular stands out. Although I did like the music!

Also just watched Cat Shit One, 8/10. You're going to love or hate this, but it made me smile

Now watching Abraham Lincoln versus Zombies...

... which I wasn't expecting much from but dear god it's worse than bad. Even the comedy beards and taches can't save it! 1/10

Men in Black 3 - Meh! Was ok, flogging a dead horse, all much of a muchness, with the same mediocre smith family acting. Tommy Lee Jones is looking old!
5/10 and thats being generous

American Reunion - Wasnt too bad, bit more serious than the previous but still got some laughs out.
7/10

Hunger Games - was surprisingly good, not read the book, but I now have the incentive to do so. I would give it a solid (4/5).

Cabin in the Woods - I enjoyed too, especially for a recent Hollywood horror. Though I really wish I hadn't seen the trailer to it as it gives away far too much. An interesting twist on the whole horror genre nevertheless! (3/5)

Men in Black 3 - was watchable, lacked the humour the other two had. Roll on Men in Black 4... (2/5).

American Reunion - I really wanted this to be good, as the first 2, lets forget wedding and the other 2/3 that followed it, I enjoyed. It does have a sentimental value to it as I did grow up with those films. Again may be it's an age thing, but the jokes they played out in Reunion just weren't that funny... (2/5)

A.T.M. - (automated teller machine, before anyone pipes up) essentially P2 but in an ATM booth. Had potential but was seriously let down by the second half of the film/script. (1/5)

Safe - Transporter 4 essentially. Statham was his usual entertaining self. (2/5)

The Raid: Redemption - non-stop action from the start, don't expect an intricate storyline or Oscar worthy acting. Does what it says on the tin. (5/5)

Came to the film without having read the book.

Went home and read all three in the Trilogy.

Good stuff.

They lightened it up quite a bit and also edited for the kids but still good.

Not sure how they will do that with the later books which get progressively more violent! Huzzah!

The Blu ray version is a 15 certificate. There's more blood and a bit more lingering violence afaik.
