Doubt it will happen. Its a leaked story to put pressure on Mclaren to up their offer. If he went anywhere, it would be Red Bull IMHO.

Mercedes on recent history would be a pretty large step down, though it would probably be his only realistic option. Red Bull's two drivers are contracted for at least another year, ditto Lotus I believe (who also have Kubica still?). No way he could go to Ferrari, that's Alonso's house.

If Schumacher can't get wins for them Hamilton certainly won't, I would've thought he'd stay where he can have a good chance of getting race wins cos he doesn't seem to be very patient when they have difficulties.

As above, I can't see Hamilton getting in bed with Red Bull or Ferrari (not yet anyway), and if he does go Mercedes then I agree it's a step down, though it's not an inherently bad car, but just less predictable on race day. Saying that, the McLaren's have their off days.

I tend not to bother too much with who goes where in F1. I'm a big fan of underdogs in either case and have no real love for Ferrari, but I do find it interesting if a decent driver gets into the cockpit of an under-performing team's car.

If Schumy is indeed quitting at the end of the season, even though I think he's a cock, I do hope he wins at least one race.

I'm less and less concerned about Hamilton every season really. Aye, that might be his car/relationship with the team/whatever, but I can't help feeling that he's really straying into; "so far up himself he's forgotten what's really important" territory.

I think he'd be daft to change to Mercedes , they arent in the same class as McLaren, Ferrari or Red Bull yet.

I think he's probably feeling a change might be good but as much as McLaren might have have cocked up in some races with his strategy, pit stops etc he's had his own issues this season and last. Certainly you need to question his head sometimes , that tweet last week with the times etc

From the bits ive read it's about money and Hamilton's manager, Simon Fuller, trying to make another Beckhamesque global brand.

Mclaren's income has been hit by the global down turn when that is combined with they have stopped getting free engines from Mercedes and need to start paying, Hamilton's £15m a year is a stretch and that would only match his current contract. Button is on £10m. Hamilton wants to do less publicity work for Mclaren too. They could get Di Resta for a fraction of Hamilton's wages with similar results I reckon. Kimi's wages may be a stretch too far.
