Saw The Cult last year at Leeds O2... Cracking gig

Got tickets now for Andy Mckee and also "Zappa Plays Zappa" (Dweezil playing dad's stuff) - really looking forward to both of those.

Heard a lot of good things about Dweezil's gigs, should be good

I used to have dweezils album when I was a kid
liked it in for an idiosyncratic rock vibe
andy mckee too? seen him on youtube..talented is not the word!

Last week had a good couple of things lined up

Chili Peppers in sunderland, they were pretty good, massively self-indulgent now
supported by wombats and futureheads (my lass went to school with 'wor barry')

then in the week, Chris Cornell...cracking acoustic set....

Nice one Matt. Don't think the Peppers came near here in yorkshire :/
Cornell was tops though, did he jam along to a record player for you?

yes, really quite worked
also went a bit mental with a loop pedal at the end
and performed with a random person from the audience who was epic.
chris sang and the random bloke played...then got his CD signed.

I saw the Chilis at Knebworth last weekend, supporting were Reverend and Makers, Wombats and Dizzie Rascal. Didn't really like any of the support acts but the Chilis were pretty epic. They mostly played stuff from Blood, Sugar, Sex, Magik and Californication with a little bit of their new stuff and By the Way chucked in.

My gf and I are seeing Our Lady Peace on Tuesday in Islington, looking forward to that.

Speaking as a former Mod on the official RHCP forums, I still can't get into their newer stuff, not now that Frusciante's gone, it's just not the same. Still a lot better than most bands of their stature live though.

I'd love to see them live. But Blood Sugar Sex Magic was the best by far. Bit of Californication and By The Way ... but not much.

It's probably worth the ticket price just to watch Flea, what that guy can do to a Bass guitar is quite spectacular. Been a while since the last time I saw them, Earls Court in 2006 was the last time, great gig

Now trying to score a ticket to see Eddie Vedder in Manchester at the end of the month. (My "Seattle" Summer would then be complete)

Would kill to see Soundgarden. Just a one-off in the UK isn't it at the Hard Rock Calling? :/

I'm not going to see them, but I spotted one of the best tribute band names ever playing at a pub here in a couple of weeks; "Radge against the Machine"

Ok, the word "radge" doesn't get used much south of Watford, but it's funny up here

That was awesome tonight. McKee along with Preston Reed and Jon Gomm, then all 3 together for a few songs at the end.
Never heard of Jon Gomm before but I was blown away by his style.

Bloc party playing at the Corn Exchange on the 20th, double face value of the tickets is still a bargain.

I've got his last album, when you lose the visuals of a live performance it's not so great.

Saw "Zappa plays Zappa" last night... Awesome beyond belief. Got goosebumps at times as could just close my eyes and it sounded just like Frank Zappa and the band on stage.
Excellent selection of songs. Dweezil really put on a show.
