Bargain!

Ok, so what's the easiest way to get a new XBMC setup? I loved my old one that a mate chipped for me, but i have no idea how to go about a 360 mod.

Depends how powerful you want it to be.

I've got two old Xbox XMBC's ... one is in use, but t-other is in the garage, with an xecutor chip in it, not sure what version. It's not used, you're welcome to the whole machine for the postage.

Another option I guess would be remove the xecutor chip from yours and try to soft-mod it instead.

Apple TV (some of the earlier versions) prior to the newer firmware ran XBMC nicely.

Old PC will run XBMC

Raspberry Pi with RaspBMC. I find it's fine for SD content, but starts to struggle with the higher end MKV's and 1080 stuff.

Of all these, I guess the Apple TV is the one that best emulates a "simple user experience" since it can all be driven by the remote. Plus you can get the Netflix and other streaming stuff to work. But still no 1080 goodness.

Bit cheeky I know but can someone pm me a link or 2 for a couple of good torrent sites I might find handy in searching for some music. I obviously intend to buy the music if I like the tracks

Mrs Z went to Specsavers and while she got a good deal (free test and two pairs for one) she still couldn't work with a monitor very well so went to Scrivens which is much more local for another pair.

Scrivens were much more thorough (45 mins vs 15 mins for Specsavers) but more expensive, so I guess it is a toss-up. From what I know of you, I guess you could shell out a bit more to get the better job done.

Not specsavers! Local non-chain optometrists tend to be better in my experience but also more expensive. They tend to care more when it's their own business.

I've tried all the major chains, local has always been best.

If you work with a monitor your work place has to provide you with £25 towards the cost of an eye test.

if you need glasses specifically for monitor work then yes they do up to like 100 quid or something

if you need glasses anyway then no they dont have to pay. They do need to pay £25 towards eye sight tests though. and you can claim it once every 2 years

...and if you live in Scotland, you get a free eye test as a matter of course, unless you want contacts instead of specs, then you pay the usual rate

Just going back to the specsavers comments..!

Ok, i am biased towards Specsavers. But let me tell you about the things that make specsavers different from your local opticians that should ensure you get the best deal and the best eye test.

- All aspects of the eye test are automatically included, they do not charge for fundus photograpy
- They have a 3 month no quibble no fuss returns policy
- You can complain about any aspect of your service by either email (that is automatically sent to you after the eye test), twitter, direct to SOG (specavers optical gurnsey) or facebook (every store has its own facebook page). Trust me if you take te time to contact by any of these forms you will get a reply.

All that said, each store is individually owned or joint owned and yes just like in any business you go into, if you have a good leader this filters down to the staff.
