Basically, these Spits were buried in their crates at the end of WWII, and are now being unearthed, there may be as many as 140.

I think whatever turns up, if they seriously want to do anything with them, then serious cash'll have to be found from somewhere. I'm dying to see what they look like straight out of the crates though, after all this time...

They spoke live to one of the senior people on the dig on the lunchtime show on Radio Scotland today, they were talking about only 16 Spitfires..I shall try and dig deeper...

They've just interviewed the guy on 5Live, he's located 36 and has just been granted permission to dig them up, starting early January. First one expected out by mid-January.

He's anticipating no corrosion as they are so well packed, wants to get a squadron of at least 12 in the air. If I saw that, I would literally explode.

Aye. As they rightly said, the thing is oxygen getting to the parts, that'd be the killer as regards preservation, so they reckon that Burma, monsoon season and all, with loads of ground water, might actually be pretty good in that respect
