Accidentally got into seeing Book of Life due to a lost bet with girlfriend.

Suprisingly fucking awesome film about about Mexico's Day of the Dead
kinda like a film version of grim fandango crossed with the Doritos mariachi men

Never have i thought i would see a Radiohead cover of Creep in a kids film.

8/10

A Most Wanted Man. If you like spy gigs, this is really good. Tense, involving and emotional. Well worth a watch.

Agreed.

Just don't expect lots of explosions, scantily clad chicks and lots of fancy gadgets. It's a very slow burner, much like Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy.

I really liked it, and great an actor though he was, Philip Seymour-Hoffman's Bachmann wasn't a patch on Gary Oldman's George Smiley in the movie spy stakes.

I enjoyed it, but I thought using American actors seemed a bit unnecessary. I really liked Oldman in TTSS and Cooper in Breach. Redford in Spy Game was very good, albeit the plot was a bit on the silly scale.

Yeah Spy Game was very much kept aloft by the lead actors and I thought they mucked the pacing on the end up a bit personally speaking. Either way it was no Le Carre.

Love Spy Game. It's up there with Ronin for me. But yeh, agree that the ending is a little disappointing. Felt too rushed after the rest of it.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes - 7/10 wasnt bad tbh, never been a fan of these films but its certainly worth a watch.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - 5/10 wasnt good, wasnt bad. Story was a bit guff. The turtles themselves were done really well.
Its something to watch if you are really bored (or dying of man flu like me).

Alexander and the Terrible Horrible No Good Very Bad Day. 8/10

A family film that I genuinely laughed at whilst watching. Wasn't expecting much from the trailer but was pleasantly surprised. Wasn't too stupid or cliched either. 4 and 8 year old girls loved it too so it's a good one to take the kids to.

Steve Carrell is just plain funny.

Dawn of the planet of the apes, we watched the first 30minutes with no subtitles as i forgot to enable them, was like "this can't be right". It all made sense once we enabled them lol. 8/10.

Automata - Wasnt bad, story not too dissimilar from I,robot with robots evolving self conciousness etc etc just alot less action.

Banderas is a great actor, just a shame theres not much else to the film.
Worth a watch if you're bored or have nothing else to watch

5/10

  Spoiler: highlight to read
ludicrous drunk horn scene trashed the credibility of that film right in the middle.

Pompeii - I don't think Michael Bay was involved with this film but it certainly seemed like his own brand of shite. Excessive explosions and shallow, poorly choreographed action sequences with oddly done slo-mo, where they just halve the frame rate rather than actually display slow motion. Oh and there was also some half arsed love story underneath it all. The acting was reasonable, even with a bollocks script. 3/10

Banderas and great actor in the same sentence? Three words I never thought I would see used together. Other than Interview with a Vampire, Desperado and Once Upon a Time in Mexico, I don't think there's any of his films I rate at all :/

Dracula Untold - Bit disappointed with this one tbh, the trailers made it look very good. Its not rubbish by any means, but you can guess the story a mile off, that alone just killed it a tad for me.
Worth a look if you're bored a suppose

Interstellar - meh, haven't been this disappointed in a movie for a while. 6/10 and that's being generous.

Slow, even tedious at some points and a plot line that's so signposted from start to end that I could have left halfway through

Good points? Some very nice effects, the usual top notch performance from McConaughey and some of the science is actually portrayed pretty well. Relativity and time distortion, multidimensionalism amongst those.

Bad Points? Music/sound effect score missed the mark for me, the timing did not seem to gel well with on screen action. The story was poor, the entire ending just irritated beyond belief and some of the science was just plain terrible.

Think Van Helsing from the bad guys POV.
Agreed 6/10 but worth the download but not the cinema.

See No Evil 2 - By the numbers "lumbering psycho" movie. The guy playing the maniac is really good (and fucking huge to boot) but the rest of this film is pretty much garbage. Set in a city morgue, but it still starts out with lots of alcohol and sex scenes, as it does with any other horror movie. Uninspired, lazily written dialogue just add to the problems. 3/10
