Estranged fathers at it again ...

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/3753755.stm

Quote:
Campaign group scale building
Two men dressed in Batman and Robin costumes have staged a protest on the top of a country court building. The men, who climbed to a ledge three floors above the pavement at 0500 BST on Thursday, were demonstrating over access to their children. They unfurled a banner with the slogan "End fathers' heartbreak, close Heartbreak Hotel".

The protest at Cardiff Civil Justice Centre in Westgate Street attracted about a dozen protesters. Police cordoned off an area of pavement underneath the demonstrators and gave them harnesses to make them safer. Fathers 4 Justice founder member Matthew Mudge, who chairs the Cardiff group, said: "It is a stand to get publicity on the subject of fathers not seeing their children and grandparents not seeing their grandchildren. The reason most of us are here is that we have actually got orders from a court to see our children and when the orders are flouted the courts are spineless to deal with it. For any judges listening it is very simple - enforce your orders and we will go and spend time with our kids and we'll stop bothering you."

Mr Mudge, 41, said both the men involved in the protest were from Cardiff and had court orders which said they should have access to their children. Another member of the protest group, Guy Harrison, 36, from Ashurst in Sussex, admitted a public order offence on Wednesday for throwing flour at Tony Blair during prime minister's questions last week.

A review of security at the House of Commons is now underway. The group has staged a number of demonstrations at height to further their cause. Protests have seen members scale Bristol's suspension bridge, a crane in Manchester and gantries over roads in London.
Fair play tbh, they're bringing attention to this important issue.

When they had the protests here in bristol on our suspension bridge a load of us from work went up and cheered em on. Having a friend who went through a court battle for his son and won i know how heart wrenching this can be. Having two boys myself i cant imagine a day without em. There is nother guy in work who is splitt from his wife and is only allowed to have his two children every other weekend, the problem is his son has that muscle wasting disease and will probably be dead at 18 and this poor guy was the victim imo his wife left him for a 25 year old toy boy.

I hope you`re not calling names there, Elrond.

It just makes people lose interest in the thread. Some might say it`s counter-productive or even ironic!

Jesus christ, Elrond, give it a rest. Honestly, you're a grown man, you should really think before typing. Its not that hard is it? Thats the beauty of a forum. It gives you time to think before committing to permanent record. I wonder if you go through real life being as obnoxious as you are on here sometimes, you would probably end up spending most of the time in the hospital. I would PM this, but I'm getting fed up with you starting slanging matches. So, I'm going to air this in public in an effort to shame you into stop being a little child.

Ah! Another way of saying "I have double standards."

I love the English language and all its well-troden clichés.

You're a bit of an idiot as well, aren't you?

Jesus Norf, lighten up. If ORange wants to take an opposing stance to everything I say because I say it, he's an idiot. To summarise, fuck you; either moderate everyone or be quiet and let it roll, like you have done whenever anyone has made a comment about me ( to the point that I've had to go over your head).

Maybe he`s a bit fed up with your obvious bollocks.

I mean, you take the moral high ground whenever it suits you, proceeding then to sling ridiculous insults around when people don`t agree or conform to your views. You seem to think you hold the ultimate for every issue.

You are a tit Elrond. You may not think so and that`s ok! You`re entitled to your opinion. It`s wrong though; just to let you know.

How are my comments "obvious bollocks"? Because you disagree with them? Feel free to disagree, it's one of the beauties of living in a democracy. I don't take a moral high ground on anything because I don't agree with the concept of the existence of morals. And yeah, I do hold MY ultimate truth for all issues. You are fortunate enough to share that (heheheh). Seriously, it's a current affairs forum, a platform for views and philosophies; flames make it interesting but essentially all it is is a talking shop, you're not going to find the answer to life, the universe and everything here.

Opinions can be wrong, if they are formed from lies or untruths.

No, i never said your comments were utter bollocks, some of them i actually agree with.

I think the problem occurs when people disagree with them. You don`t like it. That`d be fine but you dismiss peoples beliefs as wrong immediately.

Although i don`t want to drag it up here again, take Inertiaman for an example. Parenting, as i see it, has no had and fast rules or experiences that accompany it and yet you think otherwise.

You can`t se anything past your own experience and views; you lack empathy.

I can disagree with people and "know" i`m right but at the same time i can TRY to see where they`re coming from. Sometimes it lets you see that there is no fact and there is only opinions formed by personal experiences.

And you DO take the moral high ground on issues such as my swearing in a thread where i had a bad day and comments pissed me off (tell you about it later Jim, if you want)!

And really that`s the utter bollocks.

You use a lot of the old kettle/pot routine.

The next time someone levels a direct personal attack at another poster, I'm going to lock and move this fucker. Frankly, I don't care if it to goes on in the CS forums etc, but this one at least should be there for ppl to give a reasoned argument without fear of someone taking it too seriously, and getting on the omg you're a knob bandwagon. To be fair, the argument doesn't have to even be reasoned (Guilty! ) - just non-abusive.

I don't think I was abusive to Elrond either, merely registering my disappointment.
