DC Open Match: Lost Village/Gazala - Sunday 31st - 18:00

DC has recently recieved a nice fat content update. New maps - New sounds - New Graphics. In keeping with tradition we'd like to have a nice fat friendly match on a couple of maps this Sunday. We'll kick off at six sharp. Please pass this to anyone you know (within trickery or otherwise) who you think might fancy a game. Register your names in this thread - we'll sort a couple of captains then organise two elite fighting units before sunday and get stuck right in. Please feel free to look me or faithless up with any questions beforehand in #warservers on Quakenet. Knowing rainy sunday afternoons there will be plenty of people about for a warmup on the server before the game. If Six'o'clock proves a massive problem for everyone we can reshed. Let me know.

We'll start with the best infantry map going - DC_Lostvillage. Then if people are game we'll move onto a couple of rounds on a more diverse map - Gazala. A classic. Ripe with planes, tanks, APC's, helis and all sorts.

You will need:

A legit copy of bf1942

BF1942 update to 1.6 - http://gamefiles.blueyonder.co.uk/bl...ch_v1.6.19.exe

The Warservers DCF Server - 80.168.35.102:14567 - (add :23000 for HLSW)

Lostvillage info.

Opposition defend the village. Coalition have to get in there and "liberate it" until all the opposition are dead. Coalition must use the helicopters and landing raft (RHIB) to get across the water and into the vill. Opposition have plenty of time at the start of the map to get organised. Their 50cal machine gun posts make a real mess of the helis so it's important that pilots are aware of their positions/fovs. The easiest landing zone is the factory (top left)- but it's very exposed. It's definately worth both sides getting recon/snipers into the hills around the village in order to give everyone an overview. I recommend the Assault class for newcomers. This class has an M16 with an M203 gren launcher. 3 M64 frag grenades, a pistol and a pigsticker. Good allround class. Once you're comfortable you might consider the Heavy Assault class (Para style machinegun/grenades) or the Spec Ops class (Carbine/Smoke grens/C4 with remote det). It's worth mentioning that Parachutes are disabled on this map for all classes. Heli pilots MUST be able to land. If you want a go at flying during this match then get some praccy in offline beforehand.

Gazala info.

Gazala is huge. The fight is for the four bases in the lower right of the map. Both teams have good ground access to the upper left base - this is always hotly contested. Routes to the other bases are more longwinded. You'll need to airdrop troops in initially, then make good use of the tanks/apc's that spawn there to gain new ground. Learn the roads around the bases - it's a hilly old map and getting around quickly is essential. The best two classes for this map are Anti-Armor (RPG/SAM/mines) or Support (Shotgun/spanner/medpack). RPG's hurt vehicles, SAM's hurt the air units, mines make you a sneaky git. Support class can repair tanks in the field and heal crew.

I've updated the lost village map, so everyone will know where splatt is hiding

that point shown is the main sniper spot but anywhere along the north hills splatt can be found

Ha ha. Can you mark the point where I'll try and deploy six soldiers onto the roof of the slums but have the helicopter slightly too far off the center so that half the chopper gets out to a 20 meter leg breaking drop?
