I actually used to lose sleep thinking about quakenet sometimes, i would put money on myself being one of only a couple who did.

I have been involved in many things before I joined QuakeNet, I have always thrown my heart and soul into them and risen to a position of authority within those entities. I would hope that I have always made a difference within them. I have always prided myself on doing an unbiased job, always doing what I believe to be the best thing for everything I have ever been involved in.

Then I joined QuakeNet. Now I wish I had never had the pleasure of doing so, really. Before, I would hope that when I have left things that I've been involved in, there have been notable improvements in them. Unfortunately I can see that QuakeNet is even more shit than when I started. Similar things happened along the lines of what has happened with me in the past, I reached positions of supposed authority. Except, in QuakeNet, I could do fuck all when I got there, and when I did try I ended up being called a power hungry empire builder, and everything I tried to do was blocked or ignored. So, after how ever long I've been an oper for I'm quitting. I'm quitting, and the annoying thing is I still feel incredibly frustrated that I have so many ideas about QuakeNet and things we could do, things that can only benefit the users, and there is nothing that I can do with them. I'm even more irritated that, even after all the shit I've put up with, I don't want to quit. So I'm pissed off with myself as well. Everyone who called me power hungry and an empire builder, you guys should take a good look in the mirror.

IRC is fine, its the networks like Quakenet and efnet that are just a pain in the arse. Find a nice little network somewhere and +s your channel :-)

Ferg was a good IRCop, helped sort out the constant problems in #halflife2 on several occasions.

Unfortunately it has been pretty obvious from a "public" point of view that Quakenet has been going downhill. The quality of the service, the impossibility to speak to an IRCop, sometimes having to default back to one you might be lucky to know. Etc.

Can't imagine what it's like behind the scenes but from you're e-mail I can't say I raised an eyebrow in shock.

Anyway, - bad loss for Quakenet :/
