R.I.P Sir John Mills

Sad news today as one of our greatest actors passed away at the age of 97.

Suffering from ill health in his golden years, his legacy for film and stage work will live on, also worth mention was his devotion to his wife of over 50 years.

He made some truly great films imo, including , Ice Cold In alex, This Happy Breed, We Dive at dawn, Hobson's Choice, Ryans Daughter and my personal favourite, Great Expectations.

Good post danred5

I was really saddened to look on the text earlier tonight and see this sad news

Sir John Mills was one of the absolute best actors Britian ever produced, he was always completely believable in all the many roles he did. One thing that does annoy me about the awards namely the oscars is they overlooked him too much only awarding him the one for Ryans Daughter. Having watched many Sir John Mill's films I have to say imo he deserved more - say for his performance in Ice Cold in Alex, Great Expectations to name but two.

I feel almost like I have lost a very close friend or even a family member as I have grown up watching Johnny Mills in many a war film and loved his performances in all, for example watch Dunkirk and see how well he fits into the roll.
He was/is greatly respected in film industry and must have had many many stories of all the greats that he acted with and knew.

I for one tip my hat and say thank you Sir John Mills for all the enjoyment you gave me in your roles, you will never be forgotten and truly are amongst the best actors ever to grace the big and indeed the small screen

Lets just hope the tv channels try and do him some justice and show some of his films over the coming weeks.
